Hey guys, I'm looking at a new car today, A ke55 1979 4dr 4 spd manual corolla :) I'm a little bit excited and i leave within the hour..

Going to be cool, Cheap price as it needs slight body work but hey, lucky my father in law is a panelbeater / spray painter by trade eh.. hahaha

 

Bit of rust in the rear quarters / wheel arch..

But other then that its pretty mad car..

 

Things and shit to look out for? ill be checking this via my iphone on the way so if anyone replies i can see..

 

Does anyone have any major tips of shit to look out for on these older corolla's?

 

I've had 2 rollers in the past.. an ae86 2dr and pretty much the 4dr version corolla seca.. though they were alot newer and had no body damage at all when i got em.. :)

Just rust mainly. Check for dodgy repairs. If you can drive it listen for gearbox and diff noise. It's all much of a muchness, they are so cheap for parts. How much do they want for it. Is it legal?

Legal, 400 tops, not much rust was thinking of fibreglassing minor ones. dented front quarter panel passenger side.. which i will replace. could probably get it for 300.. is half painted.. was daily driver.. older dude owns it.. umm.. interior is alright pretty clean ish for how old it is and shit.. so yea.. :)

stock height all that shit umm. dent in bonnet on front lip passenger side could get out with a hammer.. umm.. fair alright car tbh.. looks alright, gonna drive it a little.. rust isn't too big an issue because of the father in-law but yea.. :)

4spd manual which is what i want.. don't want auto..

was his daily hack to and from work and they have a vy they do all the major driving in.. driven it about 1500k every few months with no issues.. but yea.. I'm out ill keep looking at ill post some photos of it when i get back :) cya in the pm..

Hey there guys, I'm back. Had a look at the car, usual rust that I'm thinking of just fibreglassing..

Engine runs great.

clutch is good no noise in the box or diff..

should be able to get it for 300.. yay or nay?

Here are some piccies of the car!! umm, the rust isnt as bad on the passenger side as the rust you can see pictured on the drivers side. though there are some bubbles in the doors..

Front passenger guard has to be replaced... other then that its not bad i don't think.. :)

Theres no rust in the floors. Drives nice Runs smooth.. Seats are pretty good under the covers.. All electrical things work, has a set of small spotties install in the front grill that look alright to compensate for the old lights which probably just need epic globes..

Other then the rust i couldn't find a fault.. walk in rego for me to.. :)
