October 26, 201114 yr Author comment_562728 so what are the engine plans :) I give you.... The Silvertop! :lolcry: The 20-valved, cylinder combustion-type, multiple throttle, twin-cam air pump! Sorry to disappoint those that live their lives on a technical basis, considering it is still a 4A-GE. :cool: So it is post-weekend, but I have some photo's for you! :y: I'm very happy with the interior, as it is clean and doesn't smell like a rotten banana. The steering wheel will be replaced (for road duties), with a Luisi steering wheel that I picked up some time ago. If the Blue Car sees the track, I will change over to the wheel currently on there as it is smaller and excellent to hold onto. The stereo is basic, as there are only 2 JBL 6" speakers on the parcel shelf and a Sony head deck in the dash. Even so, it is good enough until the driveline and suspension are tuned to how I like. Indulge. So whilst I was removing the 16-valve 4A-GE, I decided that the brake booster needed a BIN to sit in. The 2nd Blue Car (previous one) had a good booster on it, so it will go on the firewall once the engine is prepped for installation - as well as some degreaser! Fuel pump and wiring under the boot :bash: With my short amount of spare time and energy the 20V has been freed of the FWD loom, degreased, cleared of creepy crawlies and has had some of the ancillaries and cooling system fiddled with. As you can see, there are some non-standard water fittings attached to the block, courtesy of Sam_Q Engineering. Thus doing so achieves an internal re-routing of the cooling system to suit north-south orientation, rather than an unsightly external re-routing of the system. For those who aren't sure what I'm on about; the 20V was designed as a front-wheel drive ONLY engine, which saw Toyota change the distributor location, but more importantly - for my application - the location of the inlets/outlets of the cooling system, to suit the east-west orientation of the engine. When doing so, it became difficult for rear-wheel drive 4A-GE enthusiasts (Starlets, Corollas, AE86s, etc.) to "bolt in" to their cars, as they were relocated to the back of the head... ultimately getting in the way of the firewall when the engine is turned 90 degrees. October 26, 201114 yr comment_562734 Nice car. 20valves are insane little engines. You should look into turbo charging it. My mate had one in a mini tubbed stalet with 17x10's in the rear. Was insanely fast! Report
