OniBerserker Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 I'm sorta tossing up between getting a loan and rebuilding my car il get a better pic up as i have stripped the quarter panels (soon to be engine and gearbox) and the bumper. il apreciate opinions as soon as i can find my digital camera to take pics Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Do it in pieces....since you have pulled it apart. Start with paint. Have a practice yourself if you can borrow and gun and compressor. Then if you f@$k it up royally all it has cost you is paint and some materials..Get advice and help from painters, and you should be fine. Then drive it around lookin ok with the standard running gear (nice and cheap on petrol) as you save and buy then build the engine you want. Source parts as you go along. Organise a strong diff. Get some wheels. Then you can throw it all together. Have the satisfaction of knowing it is all yours (not the banks) and that you did it yourself....which is far more appreciated by others than you having wads of cash and trailering the car from shop to shop getting everything done by others. That's basically what I have been doing. Quote
Tiger Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Is this about a KE55 now? Or a KE70 that you've just purchased? Just curious... that's all :D Quote
Super Jamie Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 i agree with the others. i love these cars, but they just aren't worth getting into that much debt for. maybe if it was something rare like a 15 or 25, even a 10, it would be worth a thought do it as you can afford it, on the cheap, yourself. that's what corollas are all about :D Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Amen to that...the thing is they look cool with minimal money/mods done Quote
Tiger Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 Amen to that...the thing is they look cool with minimal money/mods done Yup! :D I'll second that. Quote
OniBerserker Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) this is about the ke55 my pic of it smashed is on here somewhere- do a search for my name posts anyway I'm going to send pics to some panelbeaters for a quote anyway, just gotta come up with a way of paying for it...without doing over the local servo the ke 70 is going to be a basher Edited December 8, 2005 by OniBerserker Quote
love ke70 Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 that pic at least bonnet is still straight, could go dodgy style and get a crow bar and bend the front end back to where it should be and bog it straight and respray it, replace the wing if need be, as long as ur rails still straight it shouldnt be tooo bad btw, take ur mate, tie him to the barrier thingy then drive at him and apply handbrake as u get close to him, then, just b4 u break his legs with ur bumper, he'll learn that the handbrake isnt going to pull the car up in a timely or sensible fashion. :D Quote
OniBerserker Posted December 8, 2005 Author Report Posted December 8, 2005 (edited) yup that pic nice idea, but mine was better, he learned never to touch things ever again. rails are skewed to the left- I'm not really sure if its reparable at all?!? Edited January 19, 2007 by OniBerserker Quote
love ke70 Posted December 8, 2005 Report Posted December 8, 2005 yup that picnice idea, but mine was better, i got a bokken (oak samurai sword) and i beat his friggin shins till they were black and bloody. he learned never to touch things ever again. rails are skewed to the left- I'm not really sure if its reparable at all?!? lol nice touch, i woulda prefered to teach him his lesson with his own damage hmm I'm no expert, well i have no idea, but i never thought they could repair bent rails :( or its not worth the cost anyway, duno, call a place and ask. g/l mate. I'm still soo shocked he yoinked your handbrake, he's an absolute moron, A) its you are the driver, you do everything so you respond to your own actions B) handbrake was the worst thing he could have possibly done. :D Quote
OniBerserker Posted December 9, 2005 Author Report Posted December 9, 2005 tell me about it. i don't know what he was thinkin Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Ok I didn't realise it was f@$kED!!!! Strip it, throw it, $100 KE55 shell...put stuff in it, pass for rego, kill mate, drive new (hopefully better coloured) KE55 around :D Quote
OniBerserker Posted December 9, 2005 Author Report Posted December 9, 2005 yeah i was thinkin that was the case, spewin that i can't find any ke55's round Quote
Rolla__Boy Posted December 9, 2005 Report Posted December 9, 2005 Do you live in the ocean? There are KE55's EVERYWHERE!!! As soon as a corolla has that much damage, I would be chuckin it...they are so cheap, and so common. Unless a particular car has huge sentimental value, and you just have to keep it Quote
OniBerserker Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Posted December 18, 2005 whats sentimental value? <joke> nah its just a corolla it has been hard finding ke55 rollas around campbelltown with fuel prices on the up and down and up Quote
