GCrolla Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Hi all... I have a Stock 3k engine in my new project, and need some info. After sitting unstarted for 2 yrs, with a quick service and some fuel it fired right up, Unfortunatly I can't get it to idle. Its revving too high and I have no idea what jets are what to tune it. Is this a common problem? could it be something else? Does anyone have specs on the carby? (would be the most useful) Any info would be appreciated. Cheers guys Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 8, 2011 Report Posted October 8, 2011 Did the motor use to run with this carb?? Nothing has been changed? What happens when you turn the throttle screw down?? Does it just die? A blocked idle jet is the most likely if that is the case. If the screw doesn't drop the speed, is the cable slack enough at idle? You could pop the cable off to check the carb by itself. If it idles fast and the cable has slack, you might have an air leak via a gasket or hose- brake booster if you've fitted one, dizzy vac line, PCV if its there.. Quote
GCrolla Posted October 9, 2011 Author Report Posted October 9, 2011 Not sure about the carb, was on it when i got the car. I had a play around with the throttle stop, but the butterfly doesnt seem to be goin all the way to the stop. I tried releasing the throttle cable, but it didnt make a difference, it seems to have a good amount of slack. My first thought was a blocked jet, but i don't have a manual for the carbie, so I'm not 100% on what jets are what. I'm interested if it could an air leak... it has no brake booster, and the dizzy vac line is connected, could be block though. Its a different carbie than I'm used to. Any ideas where i could get some specs on it? Cheers Quote
altezzaclub Posted October 9, 2011 Report Posted October 9, 2011 I had a play around with the throttle stop, but the butterfly doesnt seem to be goin all the way to the stop. Something jammed down the carb throat?? (I've seen it happen... airbox bolt on a rally car!) Bent throttle shaft ? It doesn't have the KE70 diaphram stop on it does it?? Find out if the throttle plate closes completely and if not, why not. Shine a torch down the throat or unbolt the carb to look at the underneath if you have to. I'm afraid I've only got a KE70 carb manual. Quote
GCrolla Posted October 9, 2011 Author Report Posted October 9, 2011 If I could get any manual for these cars would help, I'm flying blind at the moment, have to rely on general car knowledge. Ill have a good look when I get back up to work on it. May have to pull it off and have a look, could be worth it, maybe give it a good clean out. Cheers for your help mate. Quote
