  1. If the body is done with the same perfection as the rest of the car, any finish will look the part. To me the car is custom enough to accompany any new paint finish, and a standard finish may even look a bit half done. Candy apple red is, almost, always a nice choice. With lots of clear to set off the depth of the coat :)
  2. Yeah, I defiantly think the black/green effect would be the best option...my brothers' Sil80 is gunmetal grey, it is a wicked colour... I just love my hotrods and think the matte finish is cool and something different, but you're probably right, may be a bit of a waste with all the prep you're doing... then again the paint probably wont matter once you reveal what's under the bonnet lol
  3. Being that your on the green/black wave length, possibly this... Or Matte Gunmetal grey... Also, Ive seen your build, and being a ke20 owner, this is the best corolla Ive ever seen.
  4. Keep in mind that most of these upgrades have a PCD of 4x114.3 (standard ke20 PCD being 4 x 110) but if you're running ke70 front struts, the are 4x114.3 anyway... plus 4x110 can be a pain to source wheels for, 4x114.3 is a very common stud pattern
  5. I doubt they are much stronger, Id say they are basically the same, mine was just to replace the welded center I had... I'm about to drop a significant amount more power in my 20, and will be running a shortened R31 diff, but that will be a bit of work. There's a few upgrade options, like hilux, T series, or even a ke30-55 diff may do... all need a bit of work to make them fit though, really depends on budget, how much weight u want, and how keen you are to do the work
  6. If you're just after a diff center, you can use a 'Toyota Tercal 4wd' rear diff center, they are the same. you may even find they have the taller ratio. Not sure if the whole diff assembly, wheel to wheel, is the same, but the center is for sure... Try the guys at 'Just Wrecking Toyota' they hooked me up when i had the same problem, good guys to deal with too.
  7. Awesome, I couldnt see why it wouldnt, but Ive read some confusing stuff. Cheers man, My mate will be happy to hear it
  8. Hey guys, So my mate had a little misfortune with the 5k in his ke30, and essetially the engine needs to come out. Luckily he does have a spare running 4k to go straight in, however it only has a 4speed whilst the 5k has a 5speed bolted to it. I'm just wondering in the 5speed box from the 5k will bolt up to the 4k? If not, why? Ive done a bit of research with mixed results, but the rollaclub has come though for me before. Cheers guys
  9. Haha Spewin, worth a shot Thanks for you prompt and definitive answer
  10. Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any idea if you could replace the standard ke20 tail lights(pictured below) with ke25 tail lights (pictured beneath)? The overall shape of the tail lights seem to be very similar, but i wasnt sure if they would fir in the recessed section in the rear of my ke20. Any help would be awesom, cheers
  11. Unfotunatly no, I can't imagine it being too hard, ive seen guys mount other bumpers on ke70s with little effort. But i was wondering how long you had to wait for the bumpers from kay parts, and how much they cost you all up with delivery.
  12. Thanks for the help guys, Just got hold of one... After weeks of searching, a very helpful wrecker down the road tracked one down. For future reference, they use the same diff centres in the 83-86 Toyota Tercel 4wd (for those that didnt know) Thanks again
  13. Definatly jap then... I think its what they call a 'banjo' centre, could be totally wrong, anyway the diff centre unbolts from the front. Not sure if there is another model that will fit in its place, I'm not having alot of luck tracking down ke20 parts
  14. don't know man, how do i tell?
  15. Hey guys, Ive been looking for a diff or diff centre to replace the welded one in my ke 20. I can't find one anywhere Can anyone help, If any other diff centre will fit the standard housing can someone let me know. Or tell me where to get the info. will pay good money for the right part. Cheers
  16. Cheers guys for all the info, gonna come in handy if I go with that option. I'm keen to track down a stock ke20 diff, not looking to do too many modifications, just want it on the road. Thanks again for the heads up on what to look for.
  17. Hey Guys, Just wondering if anyone can tell me if a later model diff (ke30 - ke55) will bolt into my ke20? ke20 parts seem to be hareder to get a hold of. Any help would be awesome Cheers
  18. Awesome man, cheers heaps
  19. Hey Guys, Ive been having a look around for options to upgrade the front suspension on my ke20. Does anyone have any info on these "slip on coilovers" (not sure of the correct name) They apparently make them for a few old model cars. They seem to slip over the top of the orginal strut, once the top on the strut has been cut off, and welded top and bottom. Has anyone used these? are they any good, and what should i look for. Any help would be awesome. Cheers All
  20. If I could get any manual for these cars would help, I'm flying blind at the moment, have to rely on general car knowledge. Ill have a good look when I get back up to work on it. May have to pull it off and have a look, could be worth it, maybe give it a good clean out. Cheers for your help mate.
  21. Not sure about the carb, was on it when i got the car. I had a play around with the throttle stop, but the butterfly doesnt seem to be goin all the way to the stop. I tried releasing the throttle cable, but it didnt make a difference, it seems to have a good amount of slack. My first thought was a blocked jet, but i don't have a manual for the carbie, so I'm not 100% on what jets are what. I'm interested if it could an air leak... it has no brake booster, and the dizzy vac line is connected, could be block though. Its a different carbie than I'm used to. Any ideas where i could get some specs on it? Cheers
  22. Hi all... I have a Stock 3k engine in my new project, and need some info. After sitting unstarted for 2 yrs, with a quick service and some fuel it fired right up, Unfortunatly I can't get it to idle. Its revving too high and I have no idea what jets are what to tune it. Is this a common problem? could it be something else? Does anyone have specs on the carby? (would be the most useful) Any info would be appreciated. Cheers guys
  23. Awesome, cheers guys. Just got it to the workshop last night, the build will begin soon. Will post pics through out the build don't suppose anyone one knows if later model corollas have the same diff? This one has been welded, I just wont a standard one.
  24. So... I've just picked up a 74' ke20 project about a week ago. Its been defected, but its that straight and clean, I couldn't pass it up. It's all there, i just gotta bolt it back together and get it running smooth. I had a ke70 for a while, and loved the indestructable design of theses cars. Although a have a bit of mechanical knowledge, I'm a novice with corollas, and could use some help with the basics... looking for some info, or links, on what springs can be transfered into my ke20... are other ke's the same? are there any other parts off of similar cars that will bolt in easy enough? Also, can anyone give me some info of how to tell which engine I have... the previous owner has made a couple of changes, and can't remember. I'm on a budget, so I'm definatly looking to use second hand parts, but happy to spend money where it's needed. Any help would be appreciated, I'm sure there's some common issues, or traits these cars have. Cheers
