Hi,

As the title suggests I have a problem with my interior light. It's not working at all.. not in the "on" position or the "door" position. The strange thing is that it used to work fine. It just started playing up one day and now it has stopped working completely. I never knew how much I used it until it was gone!

I have checked the fuses and they look ok. Also have tried a different globe but there is no power getting to the light switch at all as I have tested it with a multimeter.

Does anyone know what might be the problem?

I know it's a very broad question and it would be hard to answer without looking at the car but I am getting really annoyed with it as I have tried I can think of... Just after some ideas really..

Cheers,

Chris

check to see if your new globe actually works.

check to see if the wire going into the switch has power, from the fuses and before the switch

if all else fails, start from the source and follow the trail.

The wire going to the switch has no power. Globe has been tested and is fine.

The problem I had when trying to follow the wires back was that as soon as the wire enters into the rest of the loom (wrapped in black stuff) I have no idea where it goes.

I will try and have another look...

the switch shouldnt have power going to it. it earths out when open and the ligh comes on.

remove the switch and touch it the body. light should work.

getting 12v to the globe?

the switch shouldnt have power going to it? is that a joke? lol

to test wires for power you need a test light, which is basically a wire that shorts the circuit with a globe inbetween, if the globe comes on the wire is in some way connected to the battery or has power.

Ok got this sorted ended up being the fuse AND a faulty globe haha.. goes to show its worth double checking everything.
