RA28GT Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 Ok guys having trouble with my Mercedes at the moment. No its not a Toyota but its still pretty simple. Basically i have no spark at all. I have none at the plugs, and none coming out the high tension lead of the coil. I do have power on both sides of the coil. I've tried spare coils I've had lying around and it doesn't change anything. What else could be causing this lack of spark? Points are opening and closing and i have tried a couple high tension leads. Help i want to drive my comfortable car again! Troy Quote
Evan G Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 you shouldnt be getting power to both sides of the coil! should get 12v to the postive side. remove all the negative wires to the coil. get a small piece of wire. hold oneside to the neg side of the coil and tap the otherside on a earth. you should get a spark. while all the negative wires are off check and see witch ones are getting a 12v to it. rectify it Quote

As far as i understand when the points are open and the circuit isnt completed I should get 12V + on both sides? Quote
Evan G Posted March 2, 2012 Report Posted March 2, 2012 tap a earth on the neg side of the coil and see if she sparks Quote
