Hey guys,

I've recently inherited a project to finish off a friend. Its a AE86, that's most of the way through a 4AGE bigport conversion.

Anyway, trying to get it finished now for him now, and I can't seem to get spark (taking spark plug out and grounding it on battery to check it). Now I haven't done any of the wiring so I have no clue where to start and I am new to the 4AGE world.

So far I've checked/tried:

Made sure that the ECU has power

Made sure the Coil had power

Tried coil with relay

Tried coil straight onto battery (positive only)

Changed distributor

Checked earths at ECU

Added earth onto engine

Checked coil had power whilst cranking (obviously does when connected straight on to battery)

And probably a few other things I've neglected to remember (these were all problems found by searching)

Does anyone else have any suggestions as to where to start?

Thanks for any help,

Jordan

It's bolted straight on to the guard, I assumed it would be earthed, I'll take it off and sand the bolting points back and give that a shot.

EDIT: no luck, its grounding properly through the coil.

Should there be power going to the dizzy? I had a prod in the loom and nothing.

I was looking at replacing the coil and ignition module and ran into this.

It is a big port engine, which according to the Tridon should have this module

and one of the older style coils

On my car I have this style of module:

and one of the newer coils, could this be a problem?
