Jason Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 (edited) I'm just wondering if the brake boosters of ae71' and ae86 are the same? imp about to go get a Mitsubishi Starion mast cylinder, and there supposed to bolt into the brake booster of 86's but I assume there the same as the ae71's? Also when running boost, how does the brake booster work??? Aren't they vacuum operated so how does it get its vacuum if its still connect to the manifold. I can't find any answers :o BTW the type is :**6140-122*0 some of the numbers are illagable J Edited February 11, 2006 by Jason Quote
irokin Posted February 11, 2006 Report Posted February 11, 2006 S13 mastercylinders have a one way valve. AFAIK the pedal is still pretty hard if you try to stand on it while on boost. Quote
Jason Posted February 11, 2006 Author Report Posted February 11, 2006 hmmm I think there's one stock it look like a little valve thing, might get a replace because I mean it is like 30yr's old and I guess brakes are kind of important :o So it just builds its vacuum up every time there 0 throttle and the butterfly closed? I assume the boost leak through the ideal when the S/C is engaged when the throttle is closed after high rpm is negotiable? Quote
love ke70 Posted February 14, 2006 Report Posted February 14, 2006 wow i was wondering the exact same thing like...2 days ago with the whole vacuum boosted brakes + positive manifold pressure. the answer is so simple lol, so as long as the valve is good and connections are tight the brake booster will remain under vacuum :P....weeee Quote
