Joshym Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 what sort of camshaft would suit a stock 4k and whats involved in installing one? where can you buy one from ? any information would be good Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 1, 2013 Report Posted February 1, 2013 A stock cam shaft will suit a stock engine. Aftermarket ones only work properly with other mods such as carbie, head, exhaust etc. Quote
Joshym Posted February 20, 2013 Author Report Posted February 20, 2013 I plan on doing them aswell now so what cam would be suited for it with those mods? Quote
B.L.Z.BUB Posted February 20, 2013 Report Posted February 20, 2013 Depends where you want the power. Is it for a street car? Best bet is to call a cam grinder and talk to them. Tighe Cams, Crow Cams, Wade Cams etc all have websites. Quote
altezzaclub Posted February 22, 2013 Report Posted February 22, 2013 Just search Rollaclub as this gets discussed a lot. The main thing is to decide what you want to do with the car, as the most versitile cam is a stock one, then any mod to that narrows the range of what the car can do. You won't load three people and luggage into it then pull a boat using a race cam! Same with lots of round-town stop-start driving, not good on a hot cam at all. ..and, changing it is a pain in the ass! Do a compression test to see if the rings and valves are OK, because if they're not you might as well pull the motor out to fit the cam and do all the other jobs at the same time. Quote
