Hey guys,

As you know I own a KE35 with a very very shagged 3K motor due to lack of funds I haven't been able to fix the motor. I will be getting some decent money very shortly, but in the mean time my 3K is not happy, when you start it up in the morning, I let it warm up for a couple of minutes, then when you put the foot down just a little bit it has a miss fire and just wants to die, must be at like 1500RPM to 2000RPM it has a miss, so you have to rev the shit outta it so it won't die, I thought it was because my 3K was cold, but it even does it when its at operating temp, I have tried new spark plugs to no avail, done the timing its spot on. I was maybe thinking it was a carbie/fuel problem? I will be glad when I get rid of the diesel sounding piece of shit!

Thanks guys,

Brad

Okay so was going to wash it this arvo started fine backed it out, moved it so Trent could get his car in the garage, and now it won't start at all, just cranks and doesn't have any spark, tested if its getting fuel, its getting fuel, you put some down its guts and it isn't sparking, tested if it was the points, was getting spark now it isn't. I've nearly had it with this piece of shit engine.

try a new set of points, test to see if you have power to the points by turning the ignition on and opening the points with a screw driver, if you have power the points are f@$ked, if not check for broken connection.

common problem for points :P thank f@$k for electronic ignition.

Well I think we found the problem, we took the dizzy cap off, checked the points it wasn't sparking, took it off and it had a hole in the little bit of metal that it touches. So went to Repco bought a new one and it seemed to of fixed the miss fire and now the car starts up! Thanks for all the help guys :P

Yeah I know, I was confused, but I spose probably one of the first places to look would be the points, I didn't realise they could get a giant hole in them :P
