March 24, 200620 yr comment_108330 Hey guys, As you know I own a KE35 with a very very shagged 3K motor due to lack of funds I haven't been able to fix the motor. I will be getting some decent money very shortly, but in the mean time my 3K is not happy, when you start it up in the morning, I let it warm up for a couple of minutes, then when you put the foot down just a little bit it has a miss fire and just wants to die, must be at like 1500RPM to 2000RPM it has a miss, so you have to rev the shit outta it so it won't die, I thought it was because my 3K was cold, but it even does it when its at operating temp, I have tried new spark plugs to no avail, done the timing its spot on. I was maybe thinking it was a carbie/fuel problem? I will be glad when I get rid of the diesel sounding piece of shit! Thanks guys, Brad Report
March 24, 200620 yr comment_108383 Okay so was going to wash it this arvo started fine backed it out, moved it so Trent could get his car in the garage, and now it won't start at all, just cranks and doesn't have any spark, tested if its getting fuel, its getting fuel, you put some down its guts and it isn't sparking, tested if it was the points, was getting spark now it isn't. I've nearly had it with this piece of shit engine. Brad Edited March 24, 200620 yr by Brad Report
March 24, 200620 yr comment_108386 When you get it to run...do a 10/10 tune...10 thousand RPM for 10 seconds Report
March 24, 200620 yr comment_108392 It works like a charm...especially if it's in gear and smoking both back wheels at the time :P Report
March 24, 200620 yr comment_108397 Gimme the keys...I will do it... Did you get it running yet? There is so little to making a corolla engine run Report

March 24, 200620 yr comment_108418 try a new set of points, test to see if you have power to the points by turning the ignition on and opening the points with a screw driver, if you have power the points are f@$ked, if not check for broken connection. common problem for points :P thank f@$k for electronic ignition. March 25, 200620 yr comment_108521 Well I think we found the problem, we took the dizzy cap off, checked the points it wasn't sparking, took it off and it had a hole in the little bit of metal that it touches. So went to Repco bought a new one and it seemed to of fixed the miss fire and now the car starts up! Thanks for all the help guys :P Brad Report
March 27, 200620 yr comment_108817 i had the same problem few months ago.... i tried all the things above 2...spark plug, timing, etc...but no avail.... Then i tried changing the distributor cap an the spark cables n the misfiring just dissapeared... Report
March 27, 200620 yr comment_108825 Yeah I know, I was confused, but I spose probably one of the first places to look would be the points, I didn't realise they could get a giant hole in them :P Report
