I believe they came out with both types, nippondenso or bosch and you can switch the electrical connections over

as they are both internally regulated although you might want to double check that just in case. The bosch has

an externally replaceable diode/brush pack which is better.

where i live we can get parts from the rebuilder. my last nip was $6 usa for brushes and $17.50 for internal regulator. the rebuilder said he was swamped. showed him the nip i.d. sticker

bearings were serviceable. needed a piece of sandpaper for the sliprings. put em in on the tailgate of my ol chevy

then carried it back in for a bench test. thumbs-up

 

rebuildable core from the u-pull-it yard was $8.50 usa . now that was a lucky day

 

side note, on newer stuff you want to inspect the slip rings before buying a rebuildable core.

one slipring has higher resistance. it gets eaten up by the brush as a result
