NicksRolla Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 I have tried to check my timing on my 1991 Corolla with a 4AFE. The plugs wont come out of the cap so I can check. Do I need a new cap or is there another way to connect the timing light? Quote
ke70dave Posted July 12, 2014 Report Posted July 12, 2014 Timing light just clips around cylinder 1 spark plug cable? You shouldn't have to undo anything to connect timing light. Quote
NicksRolla Posted July 16, 2014 Author Report Posted July 16, 2014 the timing light I have has like a coil that you attach to something. My step dad was trying to figure it out. maybe a new timing light needs to be bought... Quote
ke70dave Posted July 16, 2014 Report Posted July 16, 2014 This is the onyl timing light ive used... http://www.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_18435.jpg if yours has a coil, then perhaps its designed to go around the ignition lead (so the ignition lead can induce a current in the coil) you got a pic of the 4afe cap? the plugs should just come off? yours look like this? http://www.am-autoimages.com/partphoto/EDC/AM-36199898/middle_1.JPG Quote

I think I might either get a new cap or buy a new timing light Quote
