On what car?

The shock mounts aren't designed to hold the weight of the back of the car. Unless they're tied in to a cage I'd say no. People just throw them in though. Because the shock mount is on the side of the Diff you're also creating a twisting force on the Mount and the Diff. The proper way to do a coil over set up is with base height adjustable shocks and an adjustable spring perch setup.

 

But really you're gonna set it to the height you want and never adjust it again, so just get Springs and shocks in the configuration you want. You just won't get the jdm Street cred from being able to tell people you have coil overs all round.
