Carb Issues

Well there you go. That shouldn't be happening at idle, unless your idle is wound up so high that it is actually running on both idle and main circuit.

Time to fix that idle circuit. Its very simple:

Empty out the fuel from the carb.

Take the top off the carb, there should be about 7 screws. Be careful not to drop the hinge pin for the float arm out of its place as the float will then fall along with the 2 small seal bits. Looking for small parts on the floor is no fun.

In fact probably best to do all this on the floor on a towel.

Once cover is off, flip the carb over and let the 2 loose pieces fall out, a ball and a weight. weight sits on top of the ball in the little outlet for the accelerator pump.

now under the little brass jet which is screwed in down a little ~6mm hole next to where the 2 small pieces came out. This is the slow jet or idle jet. It has the incredibly small orifice which can plug up very easily.

For now we want to ensure the passages are clean. Spraying degreaser or WD40 down the hole where the jet came from should force its way out through

1. the main opening in the throat where you saw fuel bubbling from and

2. also out the main entrance jet into the fuel bowl.

If not, there is a blockage there and u will need compressed air.If its all good and you see either of these 2 signs of flow then move on to assessing the cleanliness of the jet itself.

a small needle should be able to clean out the jet if there is anything lodged in there.

Do this and let us know what you find.
