In March of 2014 I finally found a candidate to build. I was actually hoping for a TE27 but was very happy when I found this straight and complete clean title TE21 in Sacramento. Drove the hour and fifteen to meet my cousin and we headed to meet the seller at STS (Santo Toy Shop) in Sac. After looking over the car and a few test drives, we agreed on the price and completed the deal. Got it home safely after a careful hour and a half drive home in the rain. The cut front springs and the steering box made for quite the intense trip home lol It had a healthy albeit a bit leaky 2tc with a 4 speed trans. Made the trip out and after hearing the motor run and talking with Alex the owner about pricing, I told him that I would think about it and let him know what I decided. Came back a week later to complete the deal... I installed shocks that I had to borrow from Anthony of Hybridworks in Vallejo because the previous owner didn't want to sell the coilovers... and AAA towed it home... :D Once I got it home I began the long process of parting out everything that I wasn't going to use for my swap. rolap7 Posted March 4, 2016 Author Report Share Posted March 4, 2016 As funds came in from the s2000 part out, I started looking for suspension. I found a AE86 in Richmond with a blown motor. It had rear disk brakes, stock LSD, BC coilovers and a few other bonuses so I picked it up. Did a bit of daily/spirited driving while I started parting out the AE86. Does anyone know my buddy who owns the brown peanut in this pic? Sold my Stout to continue the Corolla build Ok, if you guys are interested, I'll continue to post my progress. The AE86 part out was completed in July: It's always hard to part a car, but in this case, the engine block had a hole in it, it had a lot of DMV back fees and I needed the entire suspension. Between me and my two buddies we put almost every part to good use and sold enough to make our money back. Even the rear quarters were sold. I also bought a cheap mig welder to learn and do some of the simple stuff. Anything major would go to a welder in my area... BAMF (Bay Area Metal Fabrication) in Benicia. I found/scored an AW11 manual steering rack at the Richmond Pick and Pull one early Saturday Morning. Scored a pair of real Bride's from a couple of car trades and parts shuffling. Had to pull the engine to finalize the crossmember and clean up the engine bay so I can figure out which brake master cylinder and pedal set up I'll be using Crossmember is trimmed and ready to be sealed up and painted. This is an AE86 crossmember narrowed by about 3 inches. I moved one of the steering rack mounts for engine clearance and notched a bit from the front for the oil pan to clear. rolap7 Posted March 4, 2016 Author Report Share Posted March 4, 2016 Some pics of the GTS rear end work: Cleaned up and painted: Tacked the leaf spring mounts into place and took it to the welder to be welded securely. lol I'll get some shots of it mounted up soon. It's currently mounted but I've been forgetting to take pics. I'm just waiting on my Brake Master Cylinder to arrive tomorrow and then I'll get started on reinstalling the pedal box, heater core, engine and trans... Once everything is in place, I'll have the drive shaft made and start on wiring and hoses etc... I wanted to clean up the rust around the master cylinder area so I drilled out the spot welds and hit it with the wire wheel. I ordered a wilwood master cylinder for space issues and some weld through primer. I called and they gave me a $10 gift certificate toward my next purchase :D According to the tracking it should arrive today. This is a tough project... :o Hi Guys, I haven't updated in a while because I ended up buying my friends Peanut with the F20c swap already in it. I've buttoned up a few things on the new peanut so that I can daily drive it so I can now turn my attention back to finishing my build. I have the Crossmember reinforced now and am planning to drop the motor back in. Once it's in, I'll need: 1) finish the transmission mount 2) driveshaft 3) brakelines 4) coolant lines and pick a radiator 5) wiring The crossmember clearance is tight so this isn't the prettiest but it's strong and should to the trick. Now I'm daily driving the new peanut (F20c swap complete) Here's some pics from Funny Night in San Jose recently: Even though I run a F20c, this was a "V-tec" meet and I wasn't sure how the Corolla would be received. I'm combining the starlet steering column with the TE21 column since I'm converting to Rack and Pinion. The Rack is aw11 I finally have the AE86 crossmember modified and reinforced painted and ready to go. The cutout isn't pretty but I needed the clearance for the oil pan. I also moved one of the steering rack mounts approx 1 1/8th inch out for clearance. Everything on this build is pretty tight so every bit counts especially I'm wanting to keep my ride height pretty low. Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It's all welded up now and I rattle canned it for now. Eventually, the whole car will be disassembled for paint. Modded the Bride rails for my Corolla: Installed it the the daily while my project is still being built: Pedal box and modded push rod are in: Brake Master in: Test fit some Volks but I haven't pulled the trigger yet. Since my ae86 axle is narrowed and my front end wasn't I needed to fix it so that I could run the wheels without the rears tucking and the fronts poking really bad. bought a better welder and practiced some: pressed out the ball joints, cut, measured and burned the block in. Most people using this T3 kit want longer control arms, since I'm using AE86 suspension on my TE21 I actually needed mine shortened. I had a friend of mine burn the bottom plate on (since I wanted it professionally strong) and I shaped it a little. The one on the right is shaped: Primed and painted. (next set I do for my other corolla will get powdercoated forsure. Pressed the balljoint back in and had a friend a Jiffy Lube fill them with grease. BUB I like the guys on 3tc and I'm still a member there but I get the sense that my F20C swapped corollas aren't as embraced on a site mainly dedicated to the 3TC platform. Since this site is platformed more for the oldschool corolla, I figured I should move my build thread here as it seems a bit more appropriate (although I could be wrong, it wouldn't be the first time) lol.
