Super Jamie Posted May 7, 2004 Author Report Posted May 7, 2004 f@$kin jesus, nice effort! twin webers, she musta chewed some fuel too :) i was also thinkin this would be a cool thing to do. i was actually thinking of acquiring two aisan carbs from a 2T and putting them on the sprinter twincarb manifold flavours: 5k if you're in queensland, 4k if you're in nsw, cos none of us can be bothered engineering our shit :D i'd actually like to build a tough 3k. god knows i have enough parts, and a set of 040 pistons that just need rings :D Quote
Xany Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 gday fellas.......:)...... (start offtopic post here) my fully worked 5k is now in the car and i am proud to say that it does go f@$kEN HARD......i beat my workmates late model (early 90s) celica....along the highway i tested her out 170 in forth and umm.......it kept goin in 5th......not sure what too though....i think it was around 175 -180......its got a f@$kload of torque.....with my huge cam...should be getting the extractors fitted up next friday....4 into 1 mandrel bent....:D. (end off topic post here) hehehehehe....what kinda head was on you 5k??? Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 7, 2004 Author Report Posted May 7, 2004 ok like seriously, someone else make a friggin ad banner for their car, get your own ideas ya bums! :) Quote
andrew Posted May 7, 2004 Report Posted May 7, 2004 xany: the head was a 5k head. sounds like your engine has similar work to mine. what have you done to yours??? jamie: yes it was cool too that i had most of the stuff lying around my shed. and the stuff that i didnt have i aquired from other motors (eg the celica pistons) and machined it all myself on the lathe at work. the work on the block i did at a mates workshop in rocklea as they have the actuall equipment to do that shit. and the idea of the 2 aisan carbs is a good one but i would use the slightly bigger 3t ones. correctly tuned it wouldnt use too much fuel. and yeah it did use a bit. but as it was in a panelvan i had extra room for fuel drums in the back eg for burnout comps/lap dashes etc. also 3ks do tend to rev better so they are good to do up. the only thing that lets them down is the capacity, but if u keep them in the lighter coupes/sedans rather than the wagons or estates they would be good. some of my 3ks youse to rev out to 9-10grand with no probs Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 7, 2004 Author Report Posted May 7, 2004 i straightened the secondary shaft linkage right out, to get the secondary to open sooner, still giving me just the primary for cruising. f@$k she goes hard with the extra air, i can get the arse to start to step out without even clutching it :D but goddamn how's the fuel usage! no doubt the inavoidable desire to use what all the time might have something to do with that :D a trip to my mates place and back (30km) and a trip to ballina and back (40km) used quarter of a tank of fuel :moon: tho i spose when you've only got a piddly little ke25 tank, its gonna go pretty quick innit need to pull my finger out and rebuild my twincarbs :) Quote
Xany Posted May 8, 2004 Report Posted May 8, 2004 come on jamie.......its not that bad....hehehehe.....i just thought i'd make one to join in.....hehehehe.....:) andrew: you can read about my 5K build up here...... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=452 its got the 3k bigport head on it.....ports are bigger than the tosco specs and i had everything balanced..... i'll stop hijacking the thread now......:D Quote
