Falken_KE30 Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 Hey all, Just lowered my front of the KE30 the dodgey with cut springs, now i know this is unsafe ect blah blah, leave that to somewhere else thanks. What i want to know is there a set of springs that will keep my car the same "lowness" it is now? here is a pic of what it is like now. I like the stance of it, and will get the rear leafs reset at a later date to lower it more. also shortend shocks for front, Any one recomend some stiff shocks at a resonable price?, part numbers anyone?? will i need shortend shocks for rear?? cheers Quote
coln72 Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 (edited) Should do it properly, but I ran for years on cut springs without a prob. after I sold it, it was roadworthied with them twice!!!! Hell I had them help in with zip ties to stop them dropping out :jamie: Ran GT Gas Monroes (?) of the standard length. If you have access to a hydrolic press, reset the rears yourself. Did it to mine, lowered the main leaf by 2" out of the car. Dropped about 3" when back in the car, just off the bump stops (13" tyres were inside the rear guards ). Again standard length GT Gas Monroes were used with no probs after I found that a rear shock mount was bent and breaking off the bottom of a shock. Could also use Commodore wagon (VK ish) or HK/T/G Monaro rear shocks as they may be a bees shorter. Edited July 18, 2006 by coln72 Quote
Robert Posted July 18, 2006 Report Posted July 18, 2006 how do you reset rear leafs with a press? Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted July 18, 2006 Author Report Posted July 18, 2006 hahaha, zip ties, i gotta do that, DO you zip the bottom of the spring down while the car is jacked up, or you zip top and bottom while car on ground? Quote
coln72 Posted July 19, 2006 Report Posted July 19, 2006 (edited) how do you reset rear leafs with a press? Probably straighten is a better word. We disassembled the leaf pack, inserted main leaf into press, flattened it by about 2" and rebuilt leaf pack. hahaha, zip ties, i gotta do that, DO you zip the bottom of the spring down while the car is jacked up, or you zip top and bottom while car on ground? Had mine tied in at the top with a few zippies, could do both though and use something stronger. don't forget to paint your chopped springs in whatever brands color eg. pedders red as it makes it a lot harder to pick they have been chopped :hammer: Here is a crap pic of the beast showing how it sat.
