  1. wow! serious man? How much on the first engine...mine is still on it's first....
  2. Cheers guys- yeah interior is awesome.. Like I said, the main concern is the kms--- not sure how long it will keep going- hopefully a while yet.. and yeah definately agree- it needs rims, lowered and tinting! Can't really argue for $100, and it's registered :)
  3. Hi guys, I've been a member on here for a couple of months but haven't posted pics of my car yet...here they are :) It's a 1983 KE70 CS white wagon. I've mainly just been fixing up the rust, clearing up a few electrical issues, doing little things like replacing wipers, and installing a stereo. No big plans for it- it's done 377000kms, and I'm just looking forward to taking it camping etc. Let me know what you think. Would love feedback. Cheers Mark
  4. Cheers for the help guys- managed to get the fuse box out, and found the wire-it was a warm colour too  All good and stereo will be hooked up tomorrow.
  5. Cheers mate- i found the fuse by using a tester light, but can't get in behind it to find the wire  at this stage that first bunch of wires i mentioned (with the blue/black wire blue orange wire green red wire yellow red wire red white wire green white wire blue white wire) etc, would be easiest. I found a wiring diagram, but I'm not electrician, and have no idea what it's talking about....I would appreciate it if someone knew which colour wire of this big bunch, as my feeling is it's got to be one of them...i just don't want to strip every single one back if it can be avoided, and someone on here already knows....
  6. cheers mate, i'm pretty sure with a voltmeter i'd still have to strip them back. Anyone else know what colour?
  7. haha, that's what I was going to do ) any idea what colour it is tho?? just want it nice and easy..
  8. obviously this is the wire that will come on when the ignition is started, and will stay on when the car is running...
  9. Ok, so I'm relatively new to this- have installed a couple before. I've isolated all the wires required I believe: front speakers rear speakers power earth aerial the one I can't find in the head unit area is the accessories wire. This car doesn't have any stereo connected. I think i'll need to tap into another accessories wire.. Not sure where to start, but was looking at the big bunch of wires (held with black electrical tape) going to the steering wheel area. In that area there is: blue/black wire blue orange wire green red wire yellow red wire red white wire green white wire blue white wire Any of these accessories? Don't want to have to strip everyone back....if there's an easier way than this let me know, but I've had a good look around the head unit area with a test light and no luck  Cheers very much in advance- would be great if I could get her going tonight.
  10. Also was talking to a mate about it, who suggested I check the fluid level in the batteries. I have done this before on older cars, but this car appears to have a very new battery and not the standard 6 little screw caps that are on the old batteries. haven't had a good look, but regardless: * is it possible to check the fluid level on all batteries? Or are some properly sealed and thus don't need water? Cheers Mark
  11. ok so basically the slanty has wraparound bumper and lights, whereas flat is more front on. Got it :) Were they produced as the same time, or was one before the other? Mine is slanty.
  12. Hi guys, I've been on this forum for a few weeks and am slowly learning all about corollas. I notice everyone here always talks about slanty vs flat. I have no idea what that is?? Can someone please enlighten me? Pics would be appreciated. Also, was this a choice with just KE70s (which I have) or other models too? Cheers, Mark
  13. well the good news is that it's home. The jumper leads started it no worries, and it has since been stopped and started here a few times- no worries. The battery is new, so don't think that it's the problem. I discovered the radio was on (light was on, but i've never noticed as I don't have any speakers and thus no stereo. Maybe that was slowly draining the battery....? Also, the rear windscreen I notice has 4 settling- right up (which operates the wiper and from which the switch doesn't stay). second from up, third from up, and finally off (from which it doesn't stay either)....which of the 2 middle settings should this rear windscreen switch be on? As high up as it goes, or as low as it goes (towards off....) Hope that makes some sense- i just thought maybe the rear windscreen in a way was still getting charge to it.. I can't think of anything else that could be slowly draining the battery... I also cleaned all terminals and sanded them back and wd40ed them
  14. Also, we have a batteryworld in hervey bay- when I get it started, should I just go straight there. Can they test and fix basically all of these problems- alternator, starter, battery etc?
  15. Cheers mate...will try...don't believe I have a boot light... ? How much is an alternator fitted?
  16. Hi guys, I've owned this KE70 1983 wagon for a few weeks and yesterday I went out to start it and the engine didn't bugger all. Not much sound, no kick or anything. Just dead. I got a guy with jumped leads to start it up, and there was no worries. I started it a few times (including this morning) no worries, and then this afternoon- same thing happened. Just dead. Only now it's parked at work :) Just wondering what the problem could be- battery (it's new...?), starter motor etc...i don't know much about this stuff, but it's almost like something is draining the battery, even though there's no stereo, and the lights were all off... Cheers Mark
  17. can't remember the part number but the 2 front windscreen wipers were a generic brand that did lots of cars- ford, mitsubishi etc...it had toyota listed but only HILUX 79--85 or something. The lady at repco assured me they'd fit and they did |blink| They were $13.something each. The back one was a brand like Tekco, or Tasko or something and it was about $18. Hope that's of some assistance. Mark
  18. Sorry dude- I just threw out all the paperwork, and then did the gardening- thus it's right at the bottom of the bin |blink| All I did was go to Repco and tell them the year and model of the car, and they did the rest:)
  19. Dude- that was great advice. I went to StupidCheap- they said they would have to order them. Repco measured them and then sold me the generic ones. Now all installed- cheers for your advice and pictures.
  20. Hi guys, I own a KE70 wagon that's got all 3 windscreen wiper arms totally rusted out. I'm wondering what the best way to replace these (and the blades) are. We have a repco and supercheap out here...would they sell generic ones? What sort of price am I looking at paying? Also, do they fit them? I can't see how to get the bloody things off.. Let me know, Cheers, Mark
  21. Cheers guys- will give this a go tomorrow ;)
  22. Ok, so in the KE70 1983 wagon there's a door open light that looks like the picture I have attached. For some reason, mine doesn't work...hopefully it's just the bulb, so i'm hoping to take it out and replace it. I've attached a couple of pictures, but basically I can't get the globe out of the casing...no idea what I'm doing wrong. Anyone able to help?
  23. So i've recently bought a 1983 corolla KE70 wagon....just wondering if I should be feeding it unleading, or the ethenol or premium unleaded blends.. I know some older cars can't take premium and just want to make sure i'm doing the best I can by it. Cheers, Mark
  24. thanks mate, it is in pretty good nick. just a bit of rust near the petrol cap etc....hopefully fix that up, and put a stereo in. I'm keen to know what others have done with their wagons... btw, i live in Hervey Bay, QLD
