  1. Thanks heaps for your time and reply mate, I am taking it do my best mates old man, who is very wise in regards to carbies etc. And Ill get all the above menchioned checked... Both the carbie tuner and mates old man think that the timing is just off which would obviously cause it to run not to the best of their abilities... Once again thanks heaps and ill keep you posted. Cheers Tom
  2. coln72, its hard to tell without having a tacho, i am going to guess around 2000-3000rpm mark.
  3. I havent changed anything in the dizzy accept for points, but i doubt changing that would do any difference. What would you suggest. I havent noticed anything that could be a 'flatspot' it just bogs down at low revs until they pick up.
  4. Ah yeah, taking off it is very sluggish and slowly picks up, and when the revs rise it gets going, but when changing gear and the revs drop again it does the same thing throughout that particular gear.
  5. Hey, I seem to be having issues with my newly installed 3k-b carbies. I have had them tuned to the best of their abilities but it seems like something is not quite right. Speaking to the tuner he says that it is possible that the distributor could do with an advancement on its placement. Could this be the issue? The engine and carbies run well in high revs but down low i get overtaken by joggers :bash: Any tips would be great. Thanks
  6. Thanks for all the replies guys, really appreciate it. Ill keep you posted.
  7. Hey, was driving up the expressway today and heard a decent size bang! noticed the temp gauge increasing a little so i pulled over and found more coolant in the engine bay than the radiator, Thought at first it was a head gasket but then the raa spotted a hole on the back of the head (engine bay side)... Is the usually welsh plugs there, or have i just destroyed my head? Thanks, Tom
  8. yeah awesome thanks mate, yeah they arnt on the car yet, but i can see a hose outlet thing there on the manifold, haha these are all things i need to know... haha
  9. After a quick search I could not find anything that I was after.... Basically, I have not had anything to do with dual carbies, so what needs to be do... Eg fuel lines anything else and how do I go about this... Sorry for such a rookie question but I don't really want to mess this up... Thanks heaps Tom
  10. Yo, when removing my engine stupidly (rookie mistake) totally forgot about the alternator and when hoisting it out, i stripped all the wires off of the plugs going into the alternator, just wondering if there is a diagram or picture, to show which wires go where... Thanks Tom
  11. Been a little slack on the pics so here they are...
  12. Hey, went to my mechanic today who is rebuilding and 'milding' my 3k up.... It seems that he has struck a problem about a month ago that still hasnt been resolved. I am told that he is in need of longer push rods to compensate for the cam and valve springs... Would this make sense? Has this happened to anyone? and what did you use/do the fix it? Any help would be great. Thanks heaps Tom
  13. Alright, went round the mechanics this arvo, and he tells me that the broken linkage on the 3k-b carbs will be ready to pick up tomorrow, but still no time of finish for the engine. Apparently hes having troubles with push rod lengths, because of the cam and valve springs. Has anyone had this issue and if so what did you do to overcome it? This has been a known issue for about a month and no progress... Getting sick of it! Cheers Tom
  14. Still waiting on the engine... This is killing me :bash:
  15. Thanks very much, Ill have a sus into the commodore dbr11k, Ill probably just take it to an auto electrician. Cheers Tom
