  1. That's how mine got built :D
  2. Haha sick. Is that on a range rover chassis?
  3. Yeh i wanted to have some rake on the lower arms so the suspension will absorb some of the larger bumps instead of forcing the wheel back against the pivot axis, which would lead to premature failure. Hope that sort of makes sense. I also wanted the arms to be as long as possible with the pivots as close to center as possible. Keeping the angle of the arms at either end of these travel to as little as possible. The whole sub frame has been reinforced with 5mm Plate. The caster rod supports and engine sub frame are joint with 30x3mm square tube and 40x4mm across the front. Used rose joints on all the pivots.
  4. Its hard to weld coke cans! :P The truck I bought to drag it around. The repairs on the truck slowed progress of the build down.
  5. Not too stressed about it being slightly bent. I did tack (inch welds) 6 spots (approx) on the vertical plate to eliminate as much bend as possible. The hilux one will go in a press to weld up so it flexes back to straight. The pea shooter axles in the std diff will let go, from stress. way before the seals leak or any thing else chews out due to a warped housing. If it does hold up i wouldn't be too stressed about a weepy seal or noisy wheel bearing.
  6. Cheers for the interests. engine and drive line stock at the moment. has extractors (straight out) and a Webber. I do have a fair hot cam for the 3t but don't know weather to run it as i will lose torque. Hopefully the loose dirt will help with the lack of power. diff welded. 5mm plate to stop the housing bending. i do have a complete hilux diff to put in once i break this one which will probably be on the first lap. Rear lifted with 70 series cruiser front springs and rear shocks. Front lifted by lowering shock towers 4 inches. Strut inserts drained and new oil added. Removed half inch spacer from inserts to get more travel from front. Will put up some pics of the build tonight with a bit of luck. Cheers
  7. this was my girl friends dad and me in his maveric at the loveday track. pretty much spawned the idea.
  8. A few months ago I had the idea of turning my T18 into a off roader. designed for jumps, mogals etc Still need front tires and small bits n peices to finish. Will post more info and pics soon.
  9. scored a 2001 townace diff center with a 4.500 ratio all measures up the same as te7x center just hope the splines are the same for the axles pretty good step up from the 3 3/4 thats in it now :(
  10. theres nothing wrong with the diff at the moment I'm just tring to find out for when i do break it, as it is enevitable
  11. DO YOU KNOW IF THE AXLES ARE THE SAME OR IS A DIFFERENT DIFF WITH SIMILAR MONUTINGS, ALL THE T-18 DIFFS GO QUICK AT THE WRECKER DUE TO THE AE86 SPRINTER BOYS.
  12. does anyone know if the whole diff from an early corolla (ke55,ke70.etc) will bolt into a T-18?
