1977 Datsun 120Y 4 Door Sedan 4 speed Manual 1.2L A12 engine Almost finished project, paint and carby left to finish. $2500ono Located on the Gold Coast (Parkwood/Arundel area) Will consider all reasonable offers, but lowballs will be ignored. If I can't get a decent price Ill finish the paint and swap carbies then sell as complete, with and rego. PLEASE READ BEFORE SENDING ANY INQUIRIES- Looking at selling one of my project cars. Its a 1977 Datsun 120Y 4 door sedan. I have had this car for a few years now and it has been a slow on going project but I am now looking at moving and can't take it with me and my Ta22 is due for a freshen up so want to focus in that now rather then the Datto. Heres a run down about the car- Engine- 1.2L A12 engine Transmission- 4 Speed Manual The engine and gear box were swapped from a donor car I bought as I wanted the manual box and the owner of the donor car said the engine had been reconditioned 3-4 year ago but the car was never put back on road so had only been driven in his backyard every now and again. This I can not confirm but the engine runs amazing, doesnt blow smoke only problem is the accelerator pump on the carby had let go so I have to tip some fuel in the carby to her her started but then shes fine. I do however have a 32/36 weber carb and adapter plate to go on her. The interior is in veryyyy good condition for a car this age. Its Black vinyl and presents very very well. I have installed brand new black plush pile carpet bought from Knox Auto-carpets which just finishes the interior off. The body is the only thing really left to complete the car. Over the years I have had it its been blue, purple, vinyl wrapped then I stripped her back, primed her fixed dents ect and started painting her a custom green. Amazingly there was no rust in the old girl that I found. I had 2L of paint mixed up to test the colour in the engine bay to make sure I liked it, which I did so I used the rest of the paint to start the painting process, I then had another 2L mixed to finish the job but some how, even though I had the exact paint formula and used the same place for both lots of paint, the 2nd lot was a good 5-6 shades lighter. So the car is now half painted, I started rubbing the panels which had the 2nd lot of paint on them back but have lost all motivation to re-paint her again. I would also look into new front guards as these ones have been flared, not the best job but I was looking into running bolt ons to fit my wheels but unless the new owner is going that route id get new front guards. I know they can be bought new for $99ish each from a place in NSW, I have placed a WTB ad on a few sites to find some before I sell it. As far as I can remember all lights work perfectly, but the "econometer" rev guage thing doesnt work, un-sure about the speedo, but new speedo cables are like $20 on eBay. I have 2 sets of bumpers, one set is painted black to go with the green (looks better IMO) other set is still chrome. I have loads of spares that can come with the car if the buyer wants them. These range from panels, glass, grille, wipers, lights, lots of engine parts, manifolds, fuel pumps, dizzy, alternators ect ect few boxes total IIRC. THE CAR WILL COME ON STOCK WHEELS. I can help source wheel from Japan for the buyer but the wheels on the car, and in the background are not for sale. Will need to be removed via trailer or flat bed as there is no rego or rwc and some parts are off the car. That's all I can think of right now, but I have loads of progress photos so can send them through if needed. This would have a nice easy project to finish, as I said ive had it for too long and just lost motivation to finish her. Bought a Ve so no longer needed this so let the rego expire. Needs 2 tyres, rear pads, and a small window chip fixed to what I can tell. Has loads of new part in the last year of me using it. New water pump New Coil Pack New Front Tyres New wheel Bearing New High Pressure Power steering hose New Throttle positioning sensor and gear box service Reco gearbox costing $2000!! Reco alternator Reco Radiator New thermostat and fulll coolant flush at time of new radiator Runs overrated but has a few problem like all 13 year old car- Front power windows are temperamental and only work sometimes but i just use the air con Roof lining is coming down, rest of the interior is overrated few small dents and scratches nothing major. as said needs 2 tyres, rear pads, window chip fixed, could use new rear rotors if youre picky. AS SAID MAKE AN OFFER AND THE BEST OFFER WILL TAKE IT. I'm OVER GETTING STUFFED AROUND BY PEOPLE WANTING TO LOOK AT IT AND NOT SHOWING SO ONLY OFFER IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY AND WANT IT. AND PLEASE NO STUPID OFFERS BE REALISTIC, ITS A GOOD CAR AND NEEDS MINIMAL WORK SO IT WONT BE SOLD FOR NEXT TO NOTHING. Looking for around $1200 but best offer takes it.

All fuses are fine, even replaced the relays under the bonnet. Still nothing. Only other thing i can think of is a ground.. Bit more info for yous, all lights were working fine except the number plate light, so i took the bulb out to see if it was blown, put it back in and pulled the wire a bit then lost all my lights. Thought i blew a fuse, but they are all fine. In the boot the wire branch off into two, one set goes to the tail lights and the other to the fuel area (for the fuel gauge and the number plate light. Power is getting to the fuel part and the fuel gauge works fine but no power is getting to the number plate light or to the tail lights at all. How ever when i looked closer i noticed the 2 wires for the number plate light had then exposed and spliced together, have no idea why. So question- Would a dodgy ground stop power from reaching the tail lights? or should it still get power? ive checked the grounds i can see and they seem fine but thinking there might be one i can't see.. Or what else could cause this, remembering fuses/relays are fine.. Any help would be great!! =) cheers steven.

Hey guys, need a bit of help.. I was trying to get my number plate light working and have shorted something. Had all my lights working but now i have no head lights, dash lights, rear parkers, or reverse lights.. however the high beams, and brake lights are still working. I checked all the fuses and they are fine, how ever no power is getting to the dash light fuse inside the car. All the fuses under the bonnet are fine, all wiring seems fine, so I'm stumped! Any help would be fantastic! :)

Yeah i was a little worried about the dark colour too, but mostly because the darker it is the hard it is to spray, and being my 1st time didnt think it would come out as good as it did. saying that its still not perfect but I'm not gunna complain about it. Was hoping to do the clear today, but spent the whole day at uni, plus was shit weather for it. should be one soon tho =) Yeah the meshies are just crappy skid rims really, ill be running the jelly beans and a set of flipped drag ways on her mostly, just need tyres for the dragways tho. Also does anyone know what other (newer, more comfortable) front seats can fit in the Ke without too much effort? ive heard of people using r32 seats? just want something a bit more comfortable seeing how it'll be my daily. And if anyone has some chrome fender mirrors or knows of some please let me know =)

Cheers man, i dunno the paint code, i did have it written down from when i had it mixed,just had a quick look for it, will have another look for it 2moro =) Next on the list for it is, tidy up the interior, maybe new carpet and fender mirrors :P then might be it for a while, while i get stuck into the xc. Anyways needs more pics of the front-

colour is on!!! Just needs clear and a polish and she'll be done =) came up pretty decent for my 1st time painting a car, few highs that i missed show up coz its such a dark colour, but I'm happy with it, hopefully once the clear is on itll look that little bit better. anyways ill let the pics do the talking,

Cheers man, just can't wait til shes all in colour. I'm a bit of a perfectionist so everything takes longer then i 1st expect it too, but I'm still on target to have her finished by the end of this w.e =)

Yeah haha its been out to good use, looks 100 times better then the stock 70 bumpers. Umm its just needs to be sprayed so hoping to do that next w,e then will finally be on the road =)

Few more pics; Interior plastics all painted up and hard door rubbers. rear bar fitted. rear axle all primed ready for colour. body got a few coats of hi fill today, needs a few more then will be ready for colour, was hoping to have it painted by today but had a big w.e so wasnt really in the state to be up early to paint ahha

Don't get me wrong, i have nothing agaisnt transformers, just don't like decals and airbrushing on cars. need to hurry up and finish it actually, meant to be giving it to her for her bday this week... ahah got the door jams, inside the boot, under the bonnet and inside the fuel flap all sprayed up yesterday. Should have the body done over the next few days. Will post pics after i get home from uni. Edit- So i don't like the cream with the gunmetal paint, so I'm in the process of painting all the bit up black, then gunna vinyl dye the door cards black with body coloured inserts..
