  1. Does it only do it under load? if yes then try giving it a little more spark advance. If it happens regardless of load or if the advance doesn't help then carb is the right place to look, might be worth checking how the fuel is flowing out of the accel pump?
  2. My KE's will both get under 10l/100km around town and between 7.5 to 8.5l on the highway. And they are (poorly) carbureted dinosaurs with the aerodynamics of a brick! From what your saying, your car is getting 11ish which is not fantastic. While It's true that modern injected cars do run on a predetermined fuel map they do use a few inputs to trim that map. Particularly the AFM and O2 sensor. Might be worth getting a mechanic to check that both are working properly because if either is not then the engine will turn the fuel mixture up to protect itself. (also an exhaust leak before the O2 sensor can do the same thing)
  3. The problem with a Detroit Locker is that it is is either Locked (like a spool) or Unlocked (single spinner) and has a nasty habit of switching between the 2 mid corner with some fairly severe and unpredictable changes to vehicle behaviour that go with it. At least with a spool its predictable (i.e. you can predict that you are going to break an axle in the near future)
  4. Done, axle bearings were toast... but so was the centre. The crown and pinion mesh was up the creek and had worn a bad profile into the crown teeth, hence the need for re-face or replace.
  5. No hints? Surely someone re-faces these gears. Looks like I'll have to do the legwork myself.
  6. Gents, Got a rude shock the other day when I priced up a pre-built replacement for my diff. So plan B is to try rebuild the (currently running but VERY Loud) center. Before I went out and did all the research for myself I thought I'd "ask RC" if anyone knows, and can recommend, anywhere in and around Melbourne that could replace/reco the pinion and crown gears? Any other advice/tips on rebuilding a 1x diff would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hi mate,

Need some more pictures, I have msg'd steve on thursday but he hasn't gotten back to me. I'm keen as on the car but since i'm in Melbourne I realy need to see some more shots to get the "whole" picture before making an offer.

If you see him, or if you have some more shots of the car yourself then send them through.

    Scott
