  1. got a call from Johnny asking if i was up for a crusie, but as i was fixing the gearbox at the time, i said sorry, can't.

    but would keep him posted.

a couple hours later, i felt it was changing ok, so i took her around Prince Henry Drive, and it ran well, so i rang Johnny back ans said if you're up for a quick run, i would be keen(it was near 5pm by then)

one thing leads to another, and we end up at Murphy's Ck Bar, again, coldie in hand

Johnny with his original looking Chaly(has a 150 Lifan in her tho

looking into going a bigger engine for her.

can get a Daytona Anima 190(all bot right in) for $1300.

or just get a Lifan 125 with a type R head for $300 posted

its a cruiser, not a racer, so i am leaning towards the cheaper, lighter, smaller option

    thoughts?

  2. holy crap.

I still can't believe you can legally register those! hahaha.

    They are TINY!

How does it feel when you get passed by something larger than a smart car? much crosswind :P

haha yeah mate. it feels so cramped compared to the scoot or chaly

and its funny, coming down mt kynoch towards town, there was a strong breeze blowing randomly over the hill, at one point, it blew me into the next lane...!

Would you get outta here with your weird motorbikes already, geeez.

But really, it's cool as. I've wanted one of these for a few years now, they look like so much fun.

lol, same mate. my uncle and his kids had them when we were all growing up, unregistered, he used one for his tow bike at the speedways at times.

always wanted one, but never thought much of getting one, til i saw Joel with one on here, a year or so ago

But what happened to the Chaly? Did you sell it to get the this?

And how does it go with the Lifan? It looks like it would flip over and soon as you turned the throttle lol.

honestly, its scary with the current setup. they are an over square bore, so don't rev that well, but TORQUE.....omg...

i have to lean over the bars when taking off at any sort of 'power', or it pops the front wheel up.

I'm sure with the gearing sorted and the longer swingarm, it will help tho

got a call from Honda, 3 boxes are waiting for me to pick up.!

had no time to get there today, huge day at work.

    can't wait

  3. thanks mate

yeah its great around town, if a bit cramped compared to the scoot and Chaly

also, it gets hairy when you are over 80, with the 8" wheels and standard wheelbase

definitely plan on at least a +6cm Swing arm, and 10" rims

and a disc brake front end conversion like i did on the chaly, would be good too

  4. wont show too many pics of the show apart from this amazing bike

    a 1915 Ariel

    999201_173932109458027_373747912_n.jpgthis thing was gorgeous..!

reved to 1,100 (eleven hundred) revs, top speed of 40

running out of light so we took off for town, via Mt Kynoch.

think we did close to 100 kms of trouble free riding.

    this Chaly is perfect now..!

i cannot thank you enough, Benny

    BRM motorcycle Engineering

    big things coming from there

feels solid, goes well for an 88cc.

    very stoked

  5. got a call from Derek, asking if i was keen for a ride, and i say "Heck yeah!"

    1175350_173931712791400_132169580_n.jpg

arrived at his house, took this pic

    pre ride check

We rode from Toowoomba, down Flagstone ck, pulled up for a quick break

Derek took the Chaly for a ride

    998127_173931872791384_1358767007_n.jpg

we then went to Withcott, to fuel up, then went to Murphy'c ck pub, for a coldie.

while there, the barmaid mentioned across the rd, there was a QLD Classic Motorcycle Club meet.

    so we went over

parked near some and took some pics to try and make it look like we were part of the show

  6. took my Chaly on a date, today

    took her voting

    1239491_173874866130418_1465882420_n.jpg

my father in law spammed me with vote literature as i entered.

then took her to Master's for a big locking chain, a snag or 7, and a coke

as i was entering, 2 of the kids from the Scouts sausage sizzle asked about the bike, and i told them a little about it.

and as i was heading in, they asked if i would buy a sausage, i replied

"If you guys keep an eye on my bike, i'll buy a few"

this pic also shows the air filter cap painted satin black by Benny.

    love the look

  7. so i get the callup that she will be dropped off at work on friday, all fixed and sorted, Ben says.

I couldnt wait..! as it has been nearly 2 months since i bought her.

sure enough, about 10 am she arrives

a pic of where the key and oil filter was relocated

    1044588_173931326124772_935014203_n.jpg

pic of the disc brake fitted.

and the new front guard mounting tabs, showing how low it sits now

    more to come

  8. the 'china' front end was way too low, even with just the weight of the bike, using up 50% of the front end travel. then add the weight of a rider, or a fatty like me, it would be nearly sitting hard.

it's also different internally, so the original front end parts can't be swapped in, so Ben sourced some with the same dimensions from his shop, and cut them to suit

    now to my sads....

wiring has been sorted, new battery fitted also, as the other one was fried due to W/E was wrong with the wiring.

Benno spent ages sorting it out.

but still couldnt isolate the miss in the engine.

so he gave her a full tune and service.

    14162_172406952943876_1915812180_n.jpg

the valve clearances were out. sorted that. full rebuild and tune on the carb, it changed the miss, but its still there under load

he is going to check the coil next

I can not say enough about Benny..!

he treats this bike, and the others he works on, like his own...!

in fact, he is putting more effort into this girl than i would have.. i may have given up and put her in the 'too hard basket' a while ago

    Props..!

  9. test fitting of the eye lid, we decided we didnt like it

    1235122_172407062943865_988023614_n.jpg

    went back to without it

    1235940_172407049610533_327541548_n.jpg

originally had hopes for the cooler to sit where the horn was, so we relocated that, to prepare for the move.

but to restrict the chance of anything getting caught in the movement of the front end during turns, etc, we decided not to

below is what we agreed on

making holes for the oil filter to get some air flow, in its new spot inside the leg guard, as it looked wrong anywhere else

really happy with how it came out

Benno painted the filter cover black. i reckon it looks a lot better than before
