cheers for the help so i can basically add the 5th gear to my k40 and swap the layshaft and mainshaft over to make it into a k50 because the gears in the k50 arent the greatest and reverse is really shit haha my dad used to work on cars at a service station in the 70's he said he has rebuilt hundreds of gearboxs and it wouldnt be a problem just making sure all the parts will swap over as i don't want to have the car off the road longer than the weekend since my commy isnt running right either

thanks for the help me and my dar are going to see if the speedo gear thinging in the k40 box from my box fits in the k50 after driving it to and from work for a few days ive realsied its not the best gearbox and i was wondering if i was able to swap the back of the box and all the internal parts from the k50 onto my k40 so making my k40 into a k50 or would it be easier to swap all the internals from mine into the k50 replacing 1-4 and reverse in it using my gears also my rims are bigger but i used the calculator at the tyre shop to work out the correct tyres my speedo read fine before the gearbox upgrade i only noticed because when I'm doing 70 everyone is flying past me litterally everyone and it happened everyday this week

Hi guys I just converted my ke70 from a 4 speed manual to a 5 speed manual over the weekend and after a couple days of driving to and from work i realised my speedo is out my mates dad was in front of us doing 62 and my speedo said i was doing 70 Any help i was thinking maybe the speedo cable is diferent in a 5 speed or something like that

ok thanks for the help! yeah i have a 4 speed ke70 and from what i gathered as long as the gearbox was from a ke70 it was a straight swap but just wanted to make sure i'll be taking my dad with me as he used to work on old cars at a service station when he was my age cheers

hi guys sorry if this is in the wrong spot I'm going to be looking at a 5 speed gearbox out of a ke70 next week and just wondering if it will bolt straight in? ive had a bit of a look around but can't seem to find enough info do i need the yoke for the rear of the box where the tailshaft goes into do the clutches from a k40 fit a k50 things like that cheers

hahah to make it worse it came with a roo bar and spotties plus a huge long range antenna which it still has but on other news my brother found the correct wheel nuts for the hot wires so over the weekend i shall go about ordering them in I'm also in the process of taking out the back seats and building a false floor to mount a tool box on since I'm a tradie but i can't for the life of me work out how to remove the seats hahahah embarrassing so easy hint would be much appreciated

Its been sometime now but i've finally got enough courage to tackle the mighty yellow terror December 2011 don't worry the gay excel spoiler was the first thing to go February 2014 spent about 7 hours today cutting sanding and spraying some run spots on various locations next on my plan of attack is rims A set of 14 X 7 hot wires which were donated to me by my oldest brother more to come! :wootjump:

hi guys so ive owned my yellow ke70 for about a year and a half it was my first car and ive moved onto bigger things like my vx ss but i want to use my rolla for a drift/street car I want to use a 4a-c engine if there is a forum already about this could someone please link me. I have had a look around and can't seem to find much... what I'm really after is a list of all the parts required to get a 4a-c engine into a ke70 and have it running stock as a rock my reasons for a 4a-c is that I'm after a relatively easy conversion as I'm still learning about all the ins and outs of engines and cars plus with a set of snake cutters on the rear I'm hoping for a bit of fun :)) cheers

thanks for the help guys i tryed my dads 60 series land cruiser key but no luck so i just jammed a screw driver in the lock and turn it hahaha

i know i know stupid me locked my keys in my ke70 i was just wondering before i put a brick through the side window is there anyway you can jimmy the lock or use something to open the door with or should i call a locksmith out? cheers
