  2. Thanks mate
  3. A friend has a motor for sale 4A out of an AE71, will this bolt up like a FWD 4A using my mounts or are the blocks tapped differently. Thanks
  4. Thankyou so much, I did not even think of just taking the grill out. Thankyou, but If I need to take the bumper out... Thanks again
  5. What is the best way of removing a front bumper on an AE80 hatch short (not seca) I want to put the driving lights near the grill and don't think I can get my hand under the bumper to do the nuts up Thanks in advance.
  6. Long shot, but if not fuel mine was similar with heat and sitting and then restarting and power wise having nothing at points. It was a Bosch Ignition ( BIM 024 ) module in the raised housing on the distributor
  7. Penrite HPR30 is the go, used it for the last 20 Years. Ke70Dave Penrite HPR50 is for older motors as it is 40/70
  8. Thank you for your help so far I really appreciate it
  9. I have never run 0 before, I went by the factory sticker under the bonnet, valve clearances have been done, running 98 supposedly but now it is like I am running ethanol blended fuel (91) I am changing fuel stations when this tank is out and following your advice, even the mechanic said his book showes 5 deg + - 2, no I was not blocking off the vacuum hose at the distributor, will do so. Location is Leeton NSW Trev. also turns out I need a bottom end the Gudgeon pin in one of the cylinders has got sloppy and is quietly and randomly tapping away, thought it was clearances and after the mechanic did them he heard the noise I had been talking about. basically it is pinging 0 to 10 degrees, less at 0 so it sounds like if 0 is good for 91 I have shit fuel ?
  10. if your tugging the wiring near the combo switch and it is upsetting/pleasing the gremlin, is it a combo switch wiring problem/plug.
  11. nope back to zero degrees guys well zero to 2 degrees I have no Idea as it used to run 5-7
  12. I am also thinking there is a plug over the mixture screw at the back, can this be taken out without the carb removed. Exhaust is black, plugs are dark and I think there is room to lean it out
  13. light is almost on on the coil lead, tyres are at 37, seems to give the best handling (they are the 14 inch seca pizza rims) I agree the auto will chew what 20 % power will the change in timing make a difference, I'd be happy with 8 around town, best I have got is 8.4L I had the timing on 5-7 originally but on the third tank of fuel it was continually pinging so I went back to factory and the pinging was not so full on... could this of been a crook tank of fuel ? Thank you for your Help, with being made redundant I need to try and get this thing running the best I can
  14. ok I can't get it to keep a steady on the marks I can get 10-12 or 8-10I have it on 10-12 10/11/12 and back loading her up on brake there is no pinging, just need to get the missus to drive it when she wakes up
  15. speedo says 161K but I am getting the valve clearances done as she is a bit tappy, uses no oil, either hard life or wound back speedo my guess so not sure Will try the timing as soon as the rain eases up, I have a light . will see how 10 goes Thanks for answering will post how it goes
