  1. I've wanted to replace the stock radio for a long time. So guages it is. It bolts on to the radio brackets. Just a shame the hole in the dash isn't quite big enough to accommodate them. It's CNC plasma cut, so let me know if you want one.
  2. You are right. The more I think about it the more stupid it seems. Particularly as the end of the exhaust must be angled downwards (not upwards at the same angle as the body for about a foot as I had visulized). But you are wrong on one count, the exhaust only bust exit behind the rearmost door and the rearmost join in the floor pan. Thanks for your input.
  3. I have often thought about having a completely separate exhaust pipe for each cylinder. Has any one done this? A quick google search returned nothing. Any comments, thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Would it be legal to have them exit to the sides in front of the rear wheels? PS, I'm thinking of doing this on my tow car (202 Kingswood ute) not the rolla. PSS, I'm not looking for any performance gain
  4. But if you're richer than you are smart, Road and Track in Ipswich does alot of work on 4Ages .
  5. Hey, I have a stock 3K in my KE35, last tuesday it was running fine, like clockwork. But then I gave her 4 days off. And now I can't get her going again. I have checked everything I can think of; I have a good spark, excelent compression on all cylinders, and fuel is getting through (even tried starting it on some of that easy start spray). The only other thing I can think of is that the timing has gone out. (can that happen when its not running though?) Any help would be very much aperciated. Thanks.
  6. Its definitely a BW diff. Do you think someone could have put a whole ke20 diff in or just the axles? Aren't the ke20 ones shorter?
  7. Hi I'm Ben and I'm here because I'm a Corolla-holic. Recently I bought a KE35 Hardtop from Ipswich spare parts. What Ive done sofar is put an engine and gearbox in and got some Cheviot wheels. Everything went well until I tried to put the wheels on the back (the fitted on the front). I measured the rear stud pattern and found that it is 4x110 (what the ke1x/2x rollas had I think). It has a borg-warner diff. I want to use my wheels (at least eventually) and get my car on the road soon. I was thinking that I would get the roadworthy on 4x110 steelies if I can find any, and then do something about the stud pattern. What are my options here? stud pattern adaptors? ke30 axles? re drill and press new studs into the hub? new diff? Any advice would be apreciated. Thanks
  8. I have put a 3k in a ke35 i got from the wreckers everything i have managed to wire up properly except the alternator. It is the externally regulated type and i have found where it plugs into. but i need a section of wiring in between. basically I need to know which pole on the alternator goes to which part of the connector? The male connector that goes into the alternator and the one pictured below are the same size/shape. can I just go off that? and the B+ pole can just go the the positive terminal can't it? Thanks, Ben
  9. Thanks. But the problem was that I am an idiot, disconnected the wire that goes to the ignition.
  10. Hi my 1975 ke35 has no power to the ignition or horn, headlights, instrument pannel, radio, etc. it was completely fine before i put the engine in (haven't fiddled with the wiring). all the fuses i can find are fine. Could this be why I have no spark? Any help would be appreciated.
  11. This is actually dead easy. Remove the plastic surrounding the ignition barrel, wiper switch etc. Remove the steering wheel. You will see a small hole facing towards the drivers seat in the ignition barrels housing about 1/2 cm from the end. Place something that will fit in the hole. Give it a firm tap with a hammer. The pin that holds the barrel in should be pushed into the lock, which should now slide out with little effort.

  13. I want my diff attached to my chasis. Is there anyone who has done this before? Are there any cars with 4.3 or 4.4 ratio sprung LSD diffs? Given that I have access to a machine shop, what else can I do? I have had some interesting ideas involving a couple of AE82 driveshafts. Will a landcruiser lsd diff center bolt onto a std rolla diff? Thanks, Ben
