All part of the plan to goad Thomo into trying to hard to beat me and going off - only way I'm going to keep him from beating my time. :y:
-
Nah, wet track will make it easier to drag the arse around when I leave the handbrake on - and corners will just look like I'm a wannabe drifter. You're just going to go backwards into a tyre wall - you know it. You'll try too hard to finally beat me and whoops - the Thomo Tailout Special will be spinning like a top off the track. :y: I am so going to get my arse kicked this Sunday. :)
-
What he said - even though it'll give me a distinct advantage (my snail pace will be faster than Thomo's piroutte - back up - take off - piroutte - back up - take off - repeat for each corner).
-
Mate, I drive around the track with my flaming handbrake on - I don't need anyone else to sabotage my car, I'm quite capable of doing it myself. But I am a little worried about those tie rod ends - that was a lot of adjusting. 8-) And you will pull your finger out so that you aren't totally ashamed. 8-) We'll try to rig up my little bullet cam in your car for a run of yours and Pauls so you can see the difference. But yeah - I'm looking forward to seeing what time your car can do in the hands of someone who isn't a nanna. Yes, I'm enjoying my last few days of bragging rights.
-
I'd suggest you need to be put into an asylum but you already work in one judging by the lunatics that seem to come and go from there. Use a mask you clown. :D Bear with a sore head today? And yes, I LMFAO when I read that last night... :)
-
c. all of the above. I'll be there with the new wheels & tyres trying to avoid doing something really dumb again - local clowns have had enough mileage out of the handbrake episode. Michael, you need to hang out with us - purpose of the day is to goad Thomo into actually driving his car hard (or crashing). Either he or I need to crack into the 55s this Sunday. New tyres are feeling pretty good so far - car is going where I point it and holding more speed through corners.
-
I can't argue with either of those, so you're off the hook. But when will we see you out? Leave it much longer and you'll have to sell the AE71-o-death to me. :lolcry: Oh, if Thomo is grumpy as hell today - sorry! Bloody stupid AE82 front camber adjustment. Surprised car isn't sporting a hammer in the front guard... But now has -1 degree of negative camber goodness at front. Rear will have to wait for another day.
-
I paid about $200 for mine from Revolution about a year or two ago. There are cheaper ones about, but the RPM one seems to be a very good helmet for the money (so I've been told by a few scrutineers). Still waiting for Brett's excuse... :lolcry:

GF the pair of you. :D And you two wuss bags will be entering when? :D
-
Hmmm - new grippy tyres on (new to me) wheels. Looks a bit more like a race car now I think. Now I just need to drive like a race car driver. :D Thanks to Thomo for assistance, coffee, and the sacrificial blood on the tie rods.

I had 2 or 3 sets of AE82 seats, so I stripped the rails off one and then used some thick aluminium angle to fabricate adapters from the rails to the seats. Not pretty but sturdy. You're welcome to have a look - just let me know. I will be at next meet. Just be aware that if you modify the seat rails you need to get an Engineers certificate. For mine I'd argue the point that my rails are untouched. In all honesty though - if your car is a daily driver, take it somewhere and get it done properly and engineered. A lot more expensive, but not worth getting defected or voiding your insurance. Unless you just want to bolt it in at the track.
-
Nice try - but I still win the "Dumbest Moment in Motorsport" title. :) Besides, didn't affect your lap time by that much. But I'll hold the running out of fuel trick in reserve - my fuel gauge doesn't work properly and I have to work off the trip meter (which my 3 yr old son likes to reset whenever he jumps in the car).
-
Quick answer is yes - I certainly do (piece of sh*t Autotechnica fixed back seat that cost me $80 and is as heavy as original seat but at least gives some better support). Think it is either meant to be ADR approved or engineered - basically it has to be registerable.
-
Bugger, have to bail on meeting again. Got to look after the kidlets.
-
Yeah, but your car suits you man. :) I know, I know, handbrake off...
-
Oh look who's getting serious! :) Excellent stuff, that'll make that little beasty come alive.
-
Doesn't help that you're freaking nutso as well. :) Sign up for a TAFE night course or something (linkage) - you've always wanted to learn how to Landscape or arrange flowers haven't you? Anyway, will get you out of the workshop for one night a week.
-
All talk - you've been saying that before every meet - and every meet you go out and drive like a Nanna in your Nanna car. <wind wind wind> :D But looks like you're on your own for the Sept 30 meet - it's a long weekend so I'll be off doing family bits. So keep the spectacular off until I'm about please. And if you do kill yourself in a spectacular manner on the track - can I have your ute? ;) What, you expected me to say something like "please don't"? :)
-
Oh hardy ha ha... <points at scoreboard>
-
Not for a little while - family in town and brother has pinched the Rolla to run around in. So I'm guessing it'll be a last minute rush to get it done before Sept 30. Let me know what I owe you anyway - and I'll try drop past soon and grab rims so I can throw some tyres on for next meet. And the only part of the car I'll be blaming is the loose nut behind the steering wheel.
-
Yeah, I can see Thomo wiring up a big warning light on my dash for the handbrake and labeling it "TOOL ALERT"... :D I'm a ken idiot... Excuses excuses Thomo - 10 times vs 3 times, FWD vs RWD, 1000 odd kg with driver vs 700 odd kg with driver weighing nothing, clueless knob vs slightly less clueless kn... Well, you get the picture - and I still beat you AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Man that was good. Geez I'm gonna cop it when you do beat me. Don't worry Brett, we won't pay you out when you get slowest time of the day. :(

Was good to meet you both - very nice group of late model Corollas you guys had there and very bloody good times. But more importantly - I still did better than Thomo! Tell me he's not dark about that. He thought he had me until the last run (I'd been driving like sh*t, including leaving the handbrake on for my third run - figured I'd put that up before the boys start bagging me) - but for the last run I set the car back up to how it had been and almost matched my previous PB with a 56.02 against Thomo's 56.13 (a new PB for him). Why were my times off to start with? Had put my rear sway bar from middle to full hard and the car was just too tailout. Played with tyre pressures, dropping them down to see if I could work around it. So when on the third run the car felt like it was rolling off the rims I thought that maybe the pressures were too low and tyre walls were flexing badly - but it was the fact that some tool had left the handbrake on... Shame that tool was me... Anyway, no harm done other than a sh*t time and a major dent in my already flimsy credibility. So after another try on run 4 with the swaybar set hard and still not getting any closer to Thomo (and him running a PB on run 4) I figured I'd return to what I know, reset the swaybar and tyre pressures and pulled out a respectable time. Not quite the 55.xx I was hoping for but <shrug>... And then to top it all off I was on my way home when I realised I hadn't returned my racing number card (luckily only about 5 mins down the road) so turned around and returned it. Must have left my brain at home... But I beat Thomo. Guess I won't be getting any help from Thomo until he beats me next month.

anastasios - I did, into the garage. :D Plenty of time to drive it later. And at almost 40 myself don't think I'll be pulling skidz or cruising for the babes in it. :) 7shades - hey! I resemble that remark. You know you love the Rollas! Am I redeemed because I have a Triumph Spitfire with a TR6 engine as project car? Nah, didn't think so. ancullen - 'Tis a 6. Pretty sure it is a 4.2 not a 3.8 - definitely not a V12. They looked bad. I'm not a huge fan of the 2+2 look, didn't mind the standard coupe but really like the very early convertible and the racing "lightweight".

Just had to share this picture. This is what is currently sitting in my garage. Unfortunately not mine - my Dad's. I'm babysitting it while my folks complete their move from Newcastle back to Canberra. And the photos don't do it justice, it is schmick.

Well lets see, you are a cynic... I better check my spare room for signs of a border... :D Bloody cheeky smart ass. I'd love to say "I'll kick your arse on the track" but we both know you're going to wipe the floor with me. :)
