  1. Well the person I'm getting the ae71 from only want's $500 (prob talk her down to $350/$400 and it comes with a spare 4k and a manual gearbox I just don't know if is a t50 or a k40/k50.Besides the 4a in the ae71 is stuffed blows smoke so i want to get the ae71 and put my running gear in it temporarily till I get the money to put a 4age in it and sell off the part's I don't need off the wagon.
  2. Yeah I know it's going backwards but I just found out the motor in the ae71 has had it and is low on compression so may aswell put my running gear in as It's all good in the ke70 and seeing as it's auto the only redeeming feature about the ae71 is the engine x member, but I will keep it as I do want to do a 4age conversion in the future but don't have the funds right now to buy a t50, clutch, gearbox x member, pedalbox, replacement 4ac and all the rest so not worth doing untill I get a 4age.
  3. Thanks mate I suspected that would be the case just wanted to make sure.Is there any reason I can't put my engine crossmember out of the ke in the ae and put my 4k, k40, gearbox crossmember, pedal box and tailshft in the ae as i want a sedan and not a wagon I asume the wagon has the same tailshaft bolt pattern for the coil spring diff and is the same length as the sedan?.basically turn it into a ke70.
  4. Hi people, I want to buy what I think is a ae71 but need to know what parts are interchangeable as I have a ke70 wagon and want to make one good car out of the two.The car I want to buy is a 1.6 so I assume it's a ae71 which has a different cross member and it is also an auto so can I bolt up a k series box to a 4ac or do I need a t50 box?, also can i put a ke70 pedal box in a ae71?.And is the tailshaft from may wagon able to fit with the ae71 if I have to put my ke70 crossmember and 4k running gear in the ae71 if the k series box won't fit the 4ac or if it does fit will my tailshft fit the 4ac with k series box?.I have done some reseach but keep getting conflicting arguments.Any help would be much appreciated. Here are some pics of the ae71 If that helps at all.
  5. Ok so I pulled the the dash apart to check the wiring.I cut all the wires and tryed connecting the power and eath wires to different sources but same result the tacho just jumps to full the moment you touch the wires together, WTF?.I even pulled the tacho apart to see if the capacitors where swolen or cracked and there all good, so are the solders on the chip I'm stumped as to what is causing this as the tacho work's but not how it should.Anyone got any ideas as to what may be causing this?
  6. I have tryed flicking the switch but doesn't make any differance.I was working seconds before I hooked the jumper leads up so I don't think it's a coincidence.I just thought there might be a simple solution before I pull the dash apart.
  7. Yeah, but I don't get why jumpstarting a car made it go crazy.
  8. I have a problem with my aftermarket tacho, it was woking fine till I jumpstarted my brother car and now it jumps straight to full rpm as soon as you turn the key to the first notch?.And it stays there even when the car is running, I don't get whats happened to cause this, has anyone had this problem or know what might be causing this.

  13. Hi guys, I'm new here so I thought I would show you my new project. It's an 84 ke70 wagon (high top) I purchased it for $475 off a young lad who only owned it for a mounth and brought it off an elderly gentleman who turns out to be the original owner and to my supprise it's never left the town I live in.It was purchased new in 84 at nambucca heads toyota which is now a nersery and was driven around this town by the elderly gentleman up until augaust 2012.It has a bit off rust but the body is really straight and only has 143000 klms on the clock also has the blue interior (I'm not a fan of the brown one).So here are a few pics of the old girl.future plans atm are some watanabes, lower it, possible 4 age conversion, fix rust, respray ,crome bumpers and maybe flared arches.Rust patches welded in and rust proved
