  1. wow. i'm iterested to see how your seca looks. especially with the dash. you have pics?
  2. have another project car. just acquired a 1984 ae82 corolla. (4 door hatchback). i'm planning to rebuild the car for daily drive by upgrading some stuff. here's what i have planned so far: 1) engine upgrade to 4afe (from an ae101) with auto tranny. will this bolt in? the stock engine is 4a. 2) i read that ae101 front springs with 101 struts and 101 brakes will fit 3) 101 rear springs with 101 struts with old ae86 drum brakes will fit can anybody confirm on the above? and feel free to include other possible compatible upgrades. thanks.
  3. thanks a lot for the photos. i went around the wreckers but all of them were unsure of the odd looking piston (the one without the cuts). as all of them recall the ze piston having cuts. naturally, i don't want to have any problems later on (like engine won't start for starters) so i've decided to get another surplus block (with pistons and internals). luckilly, i was able to source out what looks like a relatively "fresh" one.
  4. these are the pistons that my ze engine had. notice that the one on the right doesn't have the "cuts" (clearance for valves?) on the head. i have visually compared the 2 pistons and them look identical in shape and size except for the cuts. the 2 other pistons we pulled out are similar to the one on the left (with cuts). is there any way of knowing if these are genuine ze pistons? or do i end up buying a new set to be sure? help much appreciated. thanks.
  5. how would i know if the pistons i have are from a ze? there seems to be no product code on any part of the piston. info/pics much appreciated. :D thanks guys.
  6. thanks for the help. as suggested, i had the machine shop check if honing the cylinders will do the trick. the pistons and all other intenals are in tact. worst case, i'll get another block.
  7. unfortunately, the 4agze i got from the wreckers had rust build up inside the block. i'm thinking of resleeving or getting another block. any inputs/experience in pro's and cons? also, can i get a block from the other 4age variants? i know i CAN'T get the 3-rib block. but how about the 7-rib 16V N/A block? the the silvertop? blacktop?
  8. Name: a g a Car: 1974 ke25 corolla on going project Motor & Driveline: 4agze with T50 tranny (currently being reconditioned) Suspension & Brakes: stock so far Wheels & Tyres: 13 x 7 ATS, 175/50 radials Interior: stripped (currently look for a good deal on racing seats) Body: restored from bare metal, red Other: flarings, complete stainless trims so far, it's bare. all accessories (incl decent wheels) will be installed after engine transplant. i'll update these pics once everything's complete. cheers.
  9. thanks Rolla_Boy! here are pics of the brand new tail light lens, a pair of headlight trims i had restored, flywheel & pressure plate from a 4age 20v and a new clutch disc, waterpump. although now, i'm wondering if the oem 20v pressure plate and clutch disc will be able to deal with the ze's power. been reading a lot of posts re use of aftermarket heavy duty clutch kits. i guess i'll find out soon enough. and i'll post the story here. engine is scheduled to be reconditioned early next week. we're planning to replace only the following: timing belt tensioner bearing water pump valve seals cam oil seals crank oil seal head gasket spigot bearing (add) all external belts since the ze only had 32k kms in its odometer, we're not going to touch the block and other internals. from the forums, a lot of people mention sourcing the t50 tranny. unfortunately, i overlooked a few small parts that should come along with the tranny. namely these are: clutch fork release bearing (for rwd) release bearing hub release bearing hub pins (2 pcs) it seems the t50's from wreckers do not include these quite hard-to-source items. i was fortunate enough to complete these items too. :)
  10. many thanks for inputs. i got a flywheel from a 20v as well the matching pressure plate and clutch disc. also got the release bearing for rwd and the spigot bearing. trev - thanks for the tip re the plate.
  11. i tried searching through the forums already but i need some confirmation on the following before i buy the parts: i already have a 4agze afm (with dli) engine. i already have a t50 from an a series engine. i already have a spigot/pilot bearing 1) i plan to get a 212mm flywheel from 20v silvertop 4age (advantage also of being slightly lighter according to some posts). this should fit my tranny right? 2) can i use a fwd (from 20v silvertop also) clutch system (i.e. pressure plate, clutch disc, release bearing) with my tranny? anything else i missed, please let me know. thanks guys. :y:
  12. i originally intended to put in a 4age engine. late last night, i chanced upon a 4agze selling at a very good price. it was too good to pass up. so looked at the engine this morning and bought it right away. it's afm (with dli) ze. and the bonus is the guy gave all the other halfcut parts that came with it (from an ae92 corolla). including the oem supercharger instrumentation cluster :y: here's a pic of the engine. i'll post pics of the other parts soon.
  13. thanks for the support guys. here a few more pics: • fitting of grille. we actually fitted the other stainless trimmings/accessories in preparation for final buffing of body • close up of grille • got 4 pcs of this rim. 13" x 7". has a good offset with polished lip.
  14. after several months of waiting (had too much delay with the shop and weather issues), the body works and repainting are almost complete. while very very patiently waiting for the work to progress, i was able to work out a few things for the car. - a set of brand new tail light lens ;) - a set of brand new signal lights (fender) - weatherstrips for the windshield and rear window - had the tail light lens frame repaired and painted by fiberglass maker - had the hood vents, trunk vents, grille, flares measured against the body, repainted and ready for installation i will post pics of these parts soon. attached pics show the car on final coat of paint. finishing touches on the interior and undercoat remain to be done before installation of engine. check out the "before pics" on the fist page and see how better it looks now. have to say i can't wait to get this baby up and running. i'm hoping before the holiday season - which would make it a very nice gift to myself. haha. cheers
  15. i will double check the chassis code to see if it's a te or ke. anyways, here's a pic of the stainless mouldings, step boards and the grille. i'll be taking the mouldings to the shop to it fitted to the body. the mouldings and step boards are brand new (custom fabricated). the grille came with the body and still has to be completely retouched and repainted. having a hard time looking for the frame for the tail lights.
