Alternator went on my way home from Sydney and limped into Campbelltown. Had it replaced plus cost of a motel room.
Is it possible to replace the diodes or regulator, and keep it as a spare?
Thanks

2 times AE82 Secas. All parts except engines coz they got REAL hot.

Hi Derek
And welcome. I find my wagon tends to skip across the dirt and slides a bit. Hard to get lots of power down for decent power slides. On the tar though she surprises a lot of people, esp Subby owners :-)

Azza, send me a PM and let me know what you are after and where you are.

Two cars, engines stuffed but one is complete and one has been plundered a bit. Anyone need any bits before they head to the crusher?
The blue one is complete, had a bad noise, possible gudgeon pin. So if you have a spare motor.......

1988 CSX Seca, auto, hatch. LH headlight and front seats gone. All other parts are available or come and grab the whole thing.

LH headlight and front seats gone. Auto. Carby motor. Tacho dash. Was running well until ran out of water. Drove ok, refilled with water, started ok but blew a hose. Probably recoverable but going to part out, or come and take the lot.

FWIW
I use Blackwoods for really obscure tools. I want into the shop in Darwin, asked for a 1/4drive, extra long 5/8 socket. "Own an FJ?" he asked. He was spot on, it is used to remove the bold from the bottom on the A pillar. He reckons only early Holden users buy that socket.
++ to Blackwoods

Anyone have a FRH guard and drivers side door for an AE82?. Preferably white.

It's in Fisher on the side of the road with the right hand strut top snapped off the chassis.
I'll sell the 5k out of it. Nothing else is worth much without these. I'll keep the diff.
OUCH, how did u manage that?

Sorry guys but I am a little stunned about one of the comments saying that the exhaust makes little difference. They are crucial, otherwise there would be no industry and magick needs to be used. Without back pressure you are going to burn out exhaust valves in no time at all.
Go see a specialist or a performance tuner. Do you want fuel economy, driveability, or all out performance? But be warned, witchcraft will be invoked :-) And it makes a huge difference and can make is sound bloody awesome as a nice little by-line.

Hi guys
I am after a FRH guard and a drivers front door for the AE82, preferably in white.
Any one got anything?

One suggestion guys.
When you hook it all up, play your fav track walk around OUTSIDE the car. Listen for those poxy vibrations. There is nothing dumber than hearing a nice car system go by and there is the boot lid rattling its arse off or the number plate bouncing. Screams wanker to me.
Check things like the bracing on the bonnet. Buy some decent Silastic or sealer and FIX those rattles.
Cheers,

Make sure that it is compatible. They are wired differently for a reason. You don't want to blow the ECU.

Thinking doing something just a little different....
Going AWD but using a Tercel and a 4AGE but could be interesting. But still bloody ugly. Need to work out front cross-member, possible AE71 as the 3A was in the Tercel. And no central diff could casue problems.
Just an random thought train.

Now that I am out of KE70s I am after some 15" steel wheels to suit an AE82. I have some good tyres but the rims are 4x108, and not 4x100. Or alloysw if anyone has some.
Cheers

Probaly a dumb question, but have you had the actual gauge checked, not just the sender?
Another test is to put the heater on and check the air coming out and see how hot it is. If burning, there is a hassle, if not, I would get an a sensor and gauge kit.

Sounds fair to me. Might top the rears off about 2K so the back seat passengers share the sound. If I put the sub in I will split it and the rears around 80-100hz and fiddle with it.
Thanks man.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the info.
I figure the 6 x 9 should have enough bass in a car that size with the boot as baffle, and the sub (if installed) will only be for real looooooow stuff, but I probably wont install it.
Good tip about the high pass filter! They are three ways but what do you reckon, 4KHz, higher or lower?

So many choices....
Looks like it will be a Kenwood HU, JVC 4" in the holes under the dash, using a small amp and a crossover somewhere about 400-500Hz so they don't crap themselves trying to produce bass.
And a pair of 6X9 in the parcel shelf. I have a slab of 12mm MDF to replace the current parcel shelf as it is pretty ordinary. I hope to get the carpet off in one piece and re-use it, putting it back with some staples. I have a 12" sub and a 250W amp if we really want to go silly but not sure the alternator would cope......
Thanks for your suggestions guys,
Paul
