  1. I drive my cars hard but also know there limits and also maintain them as best I can to look after them, any way I thought people were more after the injected twin cams I was told the 18rgu was heavier and less powerfull. I also have a injected 2lt twin cam from a later model celica a friend has givin me I'm thinking of another corolla transplant are these engines any good. I don't know much about toyotas as I have always been a holden man but have found the smaller jap cars are much better on the dirt and I am having fun working on and driving these cars, the old sigmas with the 2.6lt are great too
  2. Hey I'm back been trying to get this car on the track nearly there, thanks for all the info you've been a great help. There was one question about welding the diff. First as I am going to see how the standard ke30 diff holds up, does welding the diff this way make it more prone to failure ( diff or axles) Also do I weld between the teeth of the 4 opposing gears or just the 2 larger gears, and on both sides as I can get to both sides of the gears. Thanks man I have read your threads ( how to and how not to ) they are awesome, I still have a laugh when I think about the light switch, cigarette lighter and star picket. Also 1 more thing this 18rg come with twin solex carbs and a home made air box, now I have been told by the guy I got the engine of that they are better with the air box but it only has a filter at one end with a 50mm inlet and I can't see how it would be feeding the back carby as well as the front, also I am having trouble with room for it. I am thinking of biteing the bullet and spending some money on filters there not cheap that's all. I just wanted your opinion as I see you made an air box for the girls car although yours is a lot better than the on I have Thanks again Mick
  3. Thanks for the info but I am a bit confused Height seems ok could come up a bit but was concerned about the way it bounces, so it seems to come up ok but seems to bounce a bit. I haven't drove the car yet just from pushing on it And was concerned about it bottoming out from the extra weight of the 18rgu You mentioned using shocks that are clapped out, thats what i have so maybe I should just get some heavier springs and try it? I appreciate your time and opinion you know a lot more than me about this Someone else mentioned you can fit ae86 struts too, but from what you mentioned normal road shocks are not good for rallying so I presume this wouldnt help without changing the shocks anyway. Also do you think it is worth while changing my rear shocks if so what would you recommend Thanks Mick
  4. Thanks didn't know you could chage the oil in them, is it easy done and would you know what type of oil I would use
  5. So I think the struts are proberbly original and nackered and thought instead of paying $250-300 on new struts and then still have to get springs, I thought if there was a later model strut that was better and fitted easy that I can get from a car being wrecked cheap, If not I might try changing the oil and heavier springs
  6. Thanks one thing I was wondering though with the longer sigma lower control arms, wouldn't that be bending the strut or top plate slightly
  7. I recently bought my first corolla a ke 30, I put in a 18rgu I had lying around in it, its just a paddock bomb but my friends and I take it pretty seriously. I have never worked with these corollas and I was hoping for some cheap ideas to upgrade the front suspension as the 18rgu is a lot heavier. Can I just fit some later model struts if so what fits easily Also some ideas on how to get some camber As I said it is only a paddock bomb so I want to spend as little money as possible
  8. So phil I'm new on here and new to corollas, so are you saying I can fit ae86 struts into my ke 30
  9. Put 18rgu in ke30 has electronic dizzy do I need to change coil. It has a gt40r and ceramic resistor, do I just get a gt40 and get rid of the resistor. I have read a few comments about this but there is so many different blogs about this it's all just confusing. I'm pretty shore there is only 1 wire on the dizzy I will have to check.
