cheers guys ive taken it out, it hasnt made too much difference to the noice, maybe a tiny bit louder, but it sound nice. plus i now have plenty of room to set up sum sort of cold-air pickup

guys during a bit of maintainence this weekend i found sumthing, and would like some help as to what it is and why its there. standing in front of my AE112 looking at the engine bay, its in the lower right hand cavity between the bumper and the wheel. its a big white plastic bottle with 4 tiny drain hole in the bottom, but it attaches to the underside of the air intake piping. if you remove the foglight cover you can see it also, i always assumed that it was the bottom of my radiator overflow bottle. am trying to upload pics, but its not letting me at the moment the only reason i can think of as to why its there is if any water gets into the intake piping it will drain into that tank, but, why a catch tank and why the holes in the catchtank wouldnt a simple drill hole or 2 in the underside of the hose be sufficient. i am considering removing said bottle so i can re-route my intake hose to pick up cleaner cooler air. so my question is: WTF is that bottle for? & Do i need it?

well, i had a look under the car this weekend and guess what? no sign of coolant anywhere. it could be nothing, but I'm gunna keep an eye things anyway to see if it comes back again.

nah, its coming from where u can see the top of the leak. looks like a gasket or sumthing has/ or is starting to die

During a clean up of the engine bay today i noticed i have a small coolant leak coming from the lower part of the engine just above the sump. Any thoughts?

the cutout grill i had, wasnt perfect so i took it out, the one in there now is just a standard one, but with a body coloured outer edge and matt black inside. i spent all day sanding, priming and painting the cutout grill, just to come outside to find that my nephew "washed it" for me. the water got into the paint and made a mess of everything, i had a minor moment and cracked the shits, and threw it against the wall. so its no more. and yes,the car took alot of washing when i got home. i was bogged at 6:30am and didnt get to wash it until about 3:30pm so the mud was baked on a bit by the time i got to it it took a rinse off, wash, and another wash. and she still wasnt clean.

Had an "incident" at work the other day. Short version is... got bogged, tried to get out, FAILED! got pulled out by a tractor. Oh yeah, i made a mess all right!

The only pic i took of my eyelids before i took them off. the eyelids themselves look great, but coz the panels don't line up 100% atm, they look a little dicky. (Couple of us used my bonnet for a seat at the drifts one night, now its a little bit out of alignment)

Personally i would leave your wipers black and grille black, and go for a black rim, that'd look hot. i'll try to post a pic of my new mags soon.

thanks for all your help guys, i bought the Exedy heavy Duty in the end, with a little help from K-rudd's stimuli. So far so good, just gotta get used to it now, the old clutch was pretty spent.

After a very long wait a finally got the new clutch i'd been desperatly needing, i ended up getting the Exedy heavy duty, thanks K-rudd. Next thing is rear tyres, drifting round-a-bouts in the wet, in a FWD is not good, especially when u got no control over it.

i know this is an old thread, but are those eyelids still available, or where did u get them from. I'm also an AE112 owner, and I'm from QLD as well, where are the rest of the 112's in QLD from, I'm on the goldie

thanks for all the help guys, i wasnt working today so i spent a bit of time under the bonnet. my main objective was to paint the rocker cover, which i did do, but i did notice that my accelerator cably was a bit loose. so ive now adjusted that and its heaps better. the clutch can probably wait a bit longer now, as half the problem was in a sloppy acc cable, not all in the clutch like i thought. By the looks of things i will probably end up buying the Exedy H/D clutch. Thanks again everyone.

thanks, ive also heard of a mate of putting a light truck clutch in, for feel and durability. also, bit of a dumbass question, but whats a good price to get the clutch fitted.

a hi-clone is a non-moving metal propeller thing u put in your air intake hose. it works by causing the air to spiral thru the intake and thus move quicker (in the same way if you tip a bottle of water upside down it will empty slow, but if you spin it round it creates a tornado effect and empties quicker) i don't know about how much over a power gain its given me, but teamed up with the k&n hi-flow air filter its definitley running better.

hey all, the clutch in my AE112 is on its last legs an needs to be replaced. I'm currently leaning toward an Exedy heavy duty clutch, but I'm just after some fellow corolla owners opinions and suggestions on what you think i should replace the standard one with.http://www.rollaclub.com/board/style_emoticons/default/hmmmm.gif Its got a full sports exhaust system, k&n air filter, NGK iridium spark plugs, Top Gun Performance ignition leads. its gonna be taken in for a tune-up soon and to get the timing advanced a bit, but, all this is pointless at the moment coz I'm losing power through the clutch. After a long wait, mainly due to finances, i now have the new plugs and leads ive been dying to get. 4x NGK IridiumIX spark plugs 1 set Top Gun performance ignition leads Not sure how much of a power increase its made, as my clutch is on its way out (will start a thread in General/AExx Corolla Discussion). but the engine sounds like its got a bit more go in it.

Your engine bay looks schmicko! Did you do the painting yourself? or get it done somewhere, if so how much, i'd like to get my rocker cover done as well. Is the strut brace only new, does is make much difference to the handling, i've been wanting to get one for a while now, but i havnt heard from anyone with one on to see if it makes a difference or not. man i wish i'd bought that sportivo that was for sale when i was going to buy my conquest, there's at least 5 that iv'e seen on the gold coast, a guy up the road from my parents has one, it sounds sweet.

i mite give mine another go in the gloss this time, looks alot better i think. Is everybody painting they're lights now? we may have started something.
