  1. taillights look good man, what black did you use, gloss or matte. you shouldnt have painted over the reflectors tho, they need 'em to be legal. the cops mite give you a bit of trouble now. mine are about the same but i left the reflectors in. see below:
  2. yeah, i was gonna go fibreglass this time for my grille, i've still got my old cut-out one at home, so one day when i get the time i'll have another go at it. my main concern is getting a mesh that looks good, most of the normal sports mesh has too smaller holes for what i want. i'm after something more open. also, if you get the sportivo kit, i'll take the spoiler off your hands seems you don't want it. cheers.
  3. its hard to say exactly what satin black would look like, the only way to know, would be to try it i suppose. i'd say i used about 5 - 6 coats of colour. i just kept going til the colur was even. you just have to watch when peel the masking tape off. look forward to seeing the finished product, ive seen them on a gold rolla before, but it was just a normal one not a sportivo.
  4. thanks mate, your rides starting to take shape, as well, but she sounds pretty sweet with the exhaust now. my brother had the same car, but managed to blow his up. so much for corollas being indestructable hey.
  5. cheers, I'm pretty happy with the exterior of the car now, after xmas tho, i want to start on under the hood. i wouldnt mind some more power, not much, but i'd like the engine to be a little more responsive.
  6. just some plastic primer, matt black paint, a lot of masking tape and a steady hand. they didn't turn out too bad, it was a toss-up between matt black and body colour, but i think body colour would've been too much. how'd you go with your 'GTI' Grille, have you decided wether you'll keep it or not yet?
  7. I got a bit bored the other day, so i painted my tail lights.
  8. thanks Soulsearcher, looking forward to that spoiler part number, i've to leave the front end of the car alone now, i painted my stock grille and am getting the stock foglight inserts to cover those holes, but the spoiler will just be the icing on the cake. as for your GTI grille your toying with, thumbs up for havin a go, thats how i done most of my stuff for my car. :) just do it, if it looks craps change it back if it looks good keep it. going by the upclose pic i would say no, but you mentiioned it looks better from afar, any chance of a pic from a distance to give u an accurate answer. thanks again for all your help with those part numbers. Cheers, Simon
  9. Thanks alot. will definitley be calling up my Insurance to see if i have stonechip cover, its worth a try. i was gonna take a new engine bay photo yesterday, but it still looks the same (except for some dust)
  10. Finished work early today and was abit bored. So here are the up-to-date photos. Note to self: remember to get those foglight covers. 17' Speedy "Lite-7" fitted with 205/40 R17. I'm still happy with them, but the gold ain't as gold as it used to be. my self painted interior, all colour-coded. just put the new TRD badge on, there's also a "Rolla" on the other side (taken off a '05 corolla, it was meant to be i think, coz the font has a capital R. it says 'Rolla' as opposed to 'rolla'). My exhaust tip, still as shiny as the day it went on. Thanks Chris. Stickers By Design She looks alright scrubbed up, but there are a lot of stonechips on the front end, and the roof has lost a bit of its clearcoat. anyway, thats all for now.
  11. Simon's '99 Corolla Conquest. "the rolla" Bought as standard as they come. Here's a list of what i've done so far.... 2" Sports exhaust w/ Extracters Hi-flow Cat & Single Sports muffler at the back w/ 45* angled tip. K&N Hi-flow filter element Hi-clone (yes, it has made a slight difference) Sound System (as listed below) 17" Speedy Lite-7 Rims Sportivo Turbo Front-lip Spoiler Clear side-indicators Toyota Slimline weathershields Aftermarket Headlight bulbs (not sure exactly what they are, but there brighter and bluer) 5% Tint strip on front window 35% Tint on the rest of the windows Replaced all instrument panel & display lights w/ LED green bulbs 2x Green LED bars in the drivers & Passengers footwells 1x Green LED bar behind front grill 1x Green LED bar mounted under bonnnet near front windscreen, hooked to a bonnet release. Color coded interior panels (dash & gauge panel surrounds, center console and door armrests) De-badged boot except for toyota logo. still on the list of things to do... new ignition leads & spark plugs new clutch (most probably Exedy heavy duty) looks like the pics are finally gonna up load so here's what i have so far... This was taken the day i brought it home, stock as a rock. Installing the audio. Took me all night. What a mess! Pioneer Headunit Fusion Encounter 6 1/2' Splits in the front doors Fusion Powerplant 4" in the back (i didnt want 2 cut up the parcel shelf, so i just replaced the stock speakers.) Fusion Encounter 600w Amp w/ 2x Fusion Encounter 300w Subs. Its not a thumping stereo system, but it sounds awesome, the subs do the job nicely. (there is nothing gayer than a car sitting at the lights, with its boot rattling like all hell.) Must have taken this the night i put my audio in, which explains the spanner and the disconnected battery lead. At this stage i only had the extracters and K&N air filter fitted. Just after her 1st (& to this date, only) professional detail. it was a bit of a quiet morning so they didnt mind me parking in the middle of the room & taking a few pics. Taken after getting the Sportivo Turbo Lip Spoiler painted/fitted, and finishing my custom grill (i just cut all the slats out of the standard one, sanded it smooth and filled it with bog, needless to say, its SOLID). I meshed it in with flyscreen, it looks better in person, but it still is just that tinyest bit too see-thru. the foglight covers are missing coz i was going to do them in the same style as the the grill, but ive since given up on doing that, so i gotta pickup some replacements from the wreckers. This is my current "hero shot" of the rolla, its only changed a little since then. Will post some more pics as i take them, might give her a wash and get the camera out this weekend (weather permitting of course).
  12. can't upload any pics at the moment so ive just put a link to my facebook album. http://www.new.facebook.com/album.php?aid=...p;id=1317319526
  13. thanks alot for the help lesley, next time i go into toyota I'm not gonna take no for an answer. i did have the fog lightinserts but i took them out. i was gonna put in the standard issue foggies but at $300 that was too much, so i bought a $50 set of aftermarket ones but they cracked after a fortnight :y: the grille IS the same as the levin, as if i remember right, also the same as the ultima. toyota wants $220 for the levin grill and again thats too much, so i got a stock one from the wreckers and painted it up instead. looking back now i should have just looked around and found a levin or ultima & i would have just got the grill & foggies as standard. p.s. only just last week got a quote for a replacement clutch... $1200. $600 for the clutch & $600 to fit it. so Exedy Heavy Duty it is. am in the process of posting up pics of my rolla now, hopefully will be done by the end of the week.
  14. Thanks for the help, i might have a crack at it in the near future. the 1st time i had a go at it i didn't really know what i was doing and basically rushed in head first, but now i have the teardown manual and a better understanding of what i need to do. So, fingers crossed.
  15. Has anyone managed to change their fuel filter yet, i've bought a replacement to put in but cannot for the life of me get the old one out. its mounted in an awkward position on the firewall and theres barely enough room for my hands, let alone tools. i found a repair manual, and it doesnt mention anywhere in the schedualed servicing that it has to be replaced. So atm the new fuel filter is just sitting in the glove box, waiting til i have to get something mechanical done, then ill just give it to the mechanic to put in.
  16. i know this is an old thread but if its any help "Haynes" have a repair manual out now for models AE101 AE102 AE112 & ZZE122. i got mine from super cheap auto, but have also seen them at autobarn. mine was about $40.
  17. Hi Soulsearcher, the rolla looks awesome. have you ever had to get replacement parts for the sportivo, and how did you go about it. everytime i ask about parts at toyota they say that the ae112 sportivo was an import an they can't order anything. the reason i ask is I'm chasing the mesh look front grille and the spoiler risers. i know it is possible to get sportivo parts because i bought a levin front lip spoiler but for sum reason i got given the sportivo front lip spoiler instead, and all for the same price (which was good coz the sportivo one is bigger and looks heaps better) if you could be of any help that would be greatly appreciated.
  18. hey guys. one last question in regards to the strut brace. Do they make a noticable difference to the handling of the car? cheers.
  19. yeah, same here. when i installed all my audio, i took both front door trims off, most of the dash and center console out, front and back seats out, and when it came to putting it back together i had 3 screws left over. and its got me completely stuffed cause i know i put every screw back in.
  20. thanks heaps Lesley! they look awesome. As i said before, my main concern now is the needles. it look like youve got red plastic ones, mine are clear. do you think its worth painting them a translucsent red, so they look red when theyre off, but glow red when on. Simon
  21. thanks for the answers guys, ive seen a image of the gauge plates and they look great. The only thing i'm worried about is the fact that the needles on in my gauge cluster are clear when turned off and greenish when on, and I'm just worried that it might look a bit dodgy during the day with a clear needle against a white background, and at night i'll have a green needle on a green background. the only thing i can think of doing is changing my LED green bulbs for LED red bulbs, which should hopefully give me a red needle on a green background which would look awesome. The other thing i would like to now, is the color of the gauges... when lit up are they like the normal color you get behind gauge or is it more of a LED color? Day & night photos would be fantastic. Also thanks for the reply Greddy_es, i had a look at whiteline but couldn't find a price, the strut brace on ModYourCar.com is a whiteline one, and its $180. do you have one yourself? and does it make much difference to the handling? Cheers Everyone.
  22. hey guys, i've seen a set of luminous dials for an AE112 on modyourcar.com i was wondering if anyone has got these in there rolla yet, and how they look when switched on. ;) they also have dials for some of the older AE's plus suspension gear, like the strut brace i was searching for. any help would be great and all opinions welcome. pics would be awesome if youse have any. Cheers guys.
  23. yeah i finally got my refund. it took a while, but it come through. that's the important thing. so now i can't get my taillights, i might buy those luminescent dials instead. I'll start a new thread to see if anyones already got them and how they look.
  24. Yeah man, don't waste your time with them. i'm 100% positive that they don't fit. they've got them listed on ebay and ozeparts.com.au if you check out the ozeparts page, you can see a pic of the clearies next to the stockos. even there you can see they don't match. i was pretty dissapointed, cause they looked awesome. i couldn't wait to get them on. i might just have to mask the taillights instead, i don't theink i've seen that done on a AE112 yet.
  25. 2 easy. thanks mate.
