whitewalls on and RATTY paint mission started
-
whats up dudes!!! A quick up date on exterior RATROD mission with paintwork and a had a mate over with a SLR camera so we dicked around and took a few cool photos. Paint work is coming along nicely think it should look pretty RATTY when I'm done which is what I'm after hahaha. Should have the paint fully RATTED by end of weekend so can start on something else after that. Hopefully have GILMERS!!!!! but playing the waiting game as the guys doing them are doing it cheap and in their spare time so will just have to wait until they can sort them for me. damn it!!! Hopefully getting whitewall treatment tomorrow just waiting for my mate to confirm he can do it!!!! Spun the tires in anger tonight and it loved it - just need to weld up the diff so it will spin both! trying to find a diff that will bolt in which will be a good upgrade but doesn't need to be shortened as this car is being built on a very cheap budget. My other cars are newer and cost an arm and a leg to modify. Other car = RX8 just ordered aftermarket computer tuning/ re-flashing set up from states and also new body kit, cost more than ive spent buying and building this whole car hahahaha Anyway enjoy the pics - well hopefully you enjoy them

whats up, another quick update. Car is all registered and on the road now, yusss my new daily driver White walls going on this weekend. Hopefully have gilmer gear drive pricing this week too, all design work done just waiting on pricing from fabricators, if anyone is keen for 18rg gilmer drives let me know. I'm getting a set for crank pulley, water pump and alternator for now, currently looking for blower to put on!!!!!! Think ive found the one i want 2-53 Detroit blower, will run it under driven so only pushing a few psi until i blow the engine then it will be filled with forged internals ect. Paint work wise I'm starting on that this week, going to be RAT as FARK hahahaha There wont be an actual paint job, I'm going to be wet sanding it in places down to the red/brown primer to give it that real RATROD look of a neglected rusty bomb. Also designed my logo which will be painted the drivers and passengers doors also some stickers made. Some RAT040 porn from a little photo shoot and playing with photos.

well car went on its first outing to Greazefest on the weekend and got a pretty good response from people at the show. Car was running overrated!!! Didi a few final btis and pieces Saturday night and polished the shit out of the chrome and got the glass crystal clear and added some stenciling to the petrol tins on the roof. Rat poison hahaha Custom gear stick boot = old welding glove

Update!! Car has now been slammed for Greazefest car show on sunday. I used some 4" hilux lowering blocks with 19mm locating dowels. Had to shave a small amount off the dowels to make fit but nothing serious, also had to bend the u bolts to suit the narrower diff housing and also drill out the through holes on shock mounting plate. Removed bump stops and we are good to go. For the front i just took a few coils off the standard springs, this set up is purely for car shows and I will have a set of 2.5" blocks and get some front lowering springs to suit. Cheers Andy

up date the RAT040 is now rolling!!! Got everything sorted and done over the last few weekends just a few small things to finish off and its rego time. Took these pics about an hour ago after going on sneaky test drive for 20 mins or so and its running overrated!!! Used a airflow meter and verniers and some screw drivers to sync and tune the carbs seems to be all good. Just need to get it on a dyno to make sure A/F ratios are good and to see what sort of power it will make. Just need to lower it a few inches, ive head the old Isuzu Gemini front springs fit and are 1 1/2" shorter in standard length so some lowered Gemini springs would give me the drop without having to make some custom lowering springs with the angle grinder!!! Has anyone used the Gemini springs?? Custom grill was a mission to strip, sand, paint, polish and add skull but looks the goods, note air intake in head light

Update Car now has full exhaust system and sounds nice just need to tune it properly and its all good to go Picking up electronic dizzy tonight to give it a little more spark. race pipe for being loud quick change out to race pipe race pipe 2.5" Full system 2 1/4" twin pipes off exhaust manifold twins rear muffler and routed under the axle The old girl outside getting a few sun rays for a change Took the RAT for a drive around the block and was all good just needs a good test and tune day out on the open road and will be all go!!! Been speaking with diecrest engineering and we are close to having the gilmer drive gears and belt sorted, might be cheaper if i get more than one set. Ill ask them when I speak to them next

All jap day car show on sunday wanted to have it ready for then but didnt pull finger enough!!! will update with video once exhaust is on and growling!! Cheers

Quick update, Found a internally regulated alternator that pretty much bolted straight on with minimal fuss. I scored the alternator from "AUTO ELETRICS AUSTRALIA" here in Brisbane its a 70 amp jobbie and is perfect for the job. To make it fit i added a spacer in between the legs on the pivot mount about 10mm and I had to drill out the front mount hole on the front leg to the larger bolt size and swapped the steel insert from my old externally regulated alternator on the rear leg. Also made up a small adapter to allow the use of the original alternator bracket. easy really. small adapter so I can use original bracket

I will make a clutch rod but if anyone has one to suit the steel case 5 speed celica box ill take it, or post up the rod length if you know it or can measure one!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LcbLZ...e_gdata_player http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sMLEJ...e_gdata_player Let me know what you think, can't wait to be destroying tires!!!!!!!

Cheers dude, The daily goes sweet as in traffic, i drive it down the highway every day 95km round trip to work and back and its all good. Yea the doors and all panels on the daily are Overrated. The project RT40 had a bit of rust in all doors, front 1/4s, boot and sills. But after many hours of cut and weld its all done !!!!
