  1. hey try www.trademe.co.nz i no its a New Zealand based auction web site but we always have 3kb twin carb manifolds with cars and linkages on there ready to bolt on. + the bonus to that is if you just bolt 2 factory 4k carbs to the manifold it is going to go overrated and be a shit load cheaper than looking into re-jetting anything to suit ur motor.

yeah man, i got my twin carbie set up, with a whole 4k for 200 bux

  2. Hi all, don't reeaaallly know if this is the place to post this, but i was just wondering if anyone has ever made their own flares for their gaurds, as it is a mission to try get hold of them in nz, i thouigh i could custom make some alloy ones or make polystyrene moulds and make fibre glass ones.

any help appreciated, or if someone knows where to buy them in nz??

    chhers all

    Jono.

  3. as towe said, check for airleaks.

And i thought for twin carbs to run well a lumpier cam is usally needed?

Yeah, I actually have a lumpy cam, completely ported and polished head, and a worrked block, sitting in the garage waiting to be put back together.. haha, i just canty be arsed after work, may do it this weekend though

  4. Hi guys could someione please help me, I'm having trouble with the idle on my 4k.

currently it is stock except for full exhaust twin carbs and extractors. The trouble i am having is that the idle will never stay at 1 point it seems to stick when i rev and then will randomly drop down when it feels like it, usually very inconvenient times.

first i thought it would have been in the throttle cable or linkages but its not, then someone said it would be the dizzy balance weights, so i fully stripped, cleaned, greased and rebuilt my dizzy, now the revs don't stick as frequently but everytime i turn the idle down, when it does its random drop to what i presume it should idle at it just stalls because its too low.

The idle is set for around 5-700 rpm, but it sticks at around 1200 rpm which wastes gas at the lights and pisses me off.

sorry bout the long post but I'm getting real annoyed by this now.

    HELP MEEE!!!!

  5. Hey guys and girls.

just wondering if anyone could tell me wether a sc12 charger from a 4age can be used on a twin carbed 4k??

they goin pretty cheap at the mo and I'm keen to get one if so, could someone please tell me how it is done and even better show pictures of people who have done it???

    thanks guys.

  6. Hey all, first of all my 4k keeps misfiring at high rpm wen i stab the throttle and occasionly wont start or dies at low rpm, the dizzy cap looks pretty foul so I'm gonna get a new one tomorrow, but if not does anyone know what the points should be spaced at, my points are relatively new but may have moved.

and as a second question, the vacuum advance, can someone tell me where the hose should connect, i have it connected to the dizzy and to sumwhere near the carbs, but not actually on the carbs, I'm running a stock twincarb setup, but with 4k carbs rather than the 3k ones, can someone please tell me if thge vac advancance is supposed to connect to the carbs, if so, where?

any help would be appreciated, and pics would be extra helpful.

  7. Hi all, i was just after some help with tuning my twincarbs, they are the stock ones off a srcoupe that i have on my 4k with extractors and exhast and full ignition system, anyway, i havent got my lumpy cam yet so i was wondering if someone could tell me the most basic way to tune them to go their hardest, 9i can fine tune) in simple talk.

also i find sometimes when i accelerate hard, the revs don't drop fully , and i think its to do with the throttle return spring, is there supposed to be one on each carb, has anyone else had this prob,

    any help would be appreciated

    Cheers, jono

  8. we recently put a set of twin SU's on my car after a few months of it being off the road. Because they are su's we had issues with sourcing parts for linkages etc to set them up on my 4K. We also had issues with the needle and seat being shit, causing the float bowls to overflow onto the extractors. we took it to a speed shop to fix that, but everything else we did ourselves as my man's a mechanic.

I agree with the whole lumpy cam, extractors and exhaust thing because i don't think my car would run without these with the su's on. Actually I think my car could now deal with a lumpier cam. the cam I have now was reground by crow cams and was the second grind up from mild, and it was very grumpy when it had the single down-draught weber on it. The twin carbs have smoothed it out heaps

hooking up a choke was a little bit of a hurdle, and we also slapped a regulator on as the car still has the original fuel pump on it.

Anyway I don't know if any of this will relate to webers, i'd say some of it will...

We've had the carbs on for a couple of weeks now, but have not got the mixture quite right, nor the ignition timing, pretty close but not quite.

anyway we're fixing those this afternoon.

Hope some of this helps :lmao:

yeah that is helpful, whats the deal with the fuel regulator?? are they expensive, where do they fit in the fuel system???

  9. Hi all could someone please tell me if Getting twin carbs (not sidedraft) for my 4k is worth it, ive had mixed opinions on this,

it is for a twin weber setup, my mechanic uncle says itll just waste gas.

Also could someone please tell me how to rejet carbs suitable for a 4k preferably with pics.

    Thanks all

  10. Hi all, first of all i would like to say that if you cut down your gearstick make sure your gearnob will fit otherwise you hae to grind t stick thinner as happened in my ke30.

Now for my question, can anyone tell me where i should look (north island nz references would be super appreciated)

for an intake manifold, twin carb, sidedraft or not, cheers guys.

oh and what sot of price would i be looking at..

    thanks in advance

  11. ive got a hornet scoop on the side of my ke70 panal van above the carby with the air filter sticking out of the bonnet under the scoop.

yeah man thats what I'm wanting to do, or mount some kinda scoop on the carby that will pop out of the hood...

does it make much of a difference to it or not really??

.. like heat and performance wise

  12. hi all, does anyone knoe about cutting vents in bonnets, to make custom airscoops, i have an idea of how to do it, but if someone could give me and idea of what tools to use ?? (i have an angle grinder with a cutting dsc) or anything i should be careful of, it would be much appreciated.

    thanks again

  13. Hi all , I was wondering if anyone could tell me :

A; if it is possible to paint those little wheels that your fan belts go on, so fan wheels I guess haha.

B; if it is possible how do i take them off?? will i lose timing or anything??

    Thanks in advance.

  14. You wont be able to paint KE30 guages...They are flat, unlike KE55 guages, which have raised numbers/letters. To make white face KE30 guages, yes you will need to pull everything off, and scan and then print on whatever colour paper you want.

The needles will just pull off, they are VERY delicate though...and if you squeeze too hard they will bend.

ok so should i use sumthing to lever them off, and ok printing and my mum can make stickers at hr work woohoo.

  15. This might help you instead of cutting up the original :hmm:

There was a hole originally from previous owners, but I managed to clean it up gently with a metail file and coarse sandpaper.

yeah i thought of that but i really can't find a centre console anywhere and my car doesnt have one..thanks anyway..

and to 'love ke70' what is a coping saw?? haha

    cheers guys.
