  1. It's on and running but idles at 3000rpm and backfires through the intake as i haven't touched any screws yet... I can't start tuning it without the choke hooked up... can't find anything online about how to go about it and touching the stock connection to various pieces of the choke while reving doesn't disengage it. Anybody had this problem or know how to hook it up properly?
  2. I've got the adapter plate and air cleaner... Linkage looks like it can be made to work I ripped out everything i could trace back to the EGR system not sure how to go about hooking up the choke or the PCV system anybody have pictures of their setup?
  3. Can anyone help me out? I have the carb just wanted a few pointers before i dismantle my DD over the weekend It's a common enough swap i figured it could use it's own thread :)
  4. hey guys, took awhile but I'm finally getting some struts and springs (decided against coilovers.) I'm looking at KYB GR-2's or Koni adjustables, but i could use some advice on which springs to get. I haven't bought springs before, which brands are good about choosing spring rates? UPDATE: I ordered some megan ae86 lowering springs cause trd's are too hard to get
  5. damn that sounds sick lack of funds is the only thing holding me back from starting on a setup like that right now. realistically i can't afford to spend more than 2 grand, and preferably I'm looking less than 1000 to start. an LSD is not a necessity for me right now, but it's definitely on my wish list. if I was trying to save money, all I'd want is to keep my current height and clearance except with a smoother ride... but having some stiffer gts suspension is to tempting. so as it is i think i'm going to get the complete suspension and some lowering springs online as soon as I've decided on brands, price range etc. only reason I don't want to spend to much on suspension is cause I've yet to get my priorities figured out thanks a lot
  6. I've had a look at my suspension and I've decided i don't trust it... I've thought about upgrading for awhile, and now that I can afford it I have no excuse not to. ae86 suspension is what I'm looking at cause it's a direct bolt on from what I understand and I'm planning on sticking with Toyota parts. what I want to ask you guys is whether it's worth the savings to get used components or to buy new ones from a manufacturer like Koni (I'll be installing it my self either way). any brand recommendations? I thought I'd post here before I grab the first deal I find. any input is greatly appreciated
  7. That's Canada for you if that's the only thing you found funny, i'll assume you loved the black and red paint
  8. Those bumpers are definitely pimp material  I decided to look into my oil problem and found out what it was. the oil pan gasket was in pieces so i peeled it off and put a new one in with a bit of gasket maker to be safe. while i had the car in the garage I painted the valve cover and carb. got a good look at my carb, valves etc. in the process I didn't take any official before pictures but documented the day pretty well gasket in place air intake portion of my carb some valve shots more valve shots with the oil pan removed old gasket new gasket gasket supplement what do you guys think?
  9. Awesome car, definitely lots of potential there just looking at your plans for the car, it's gonna be similar like my TE72 I've got 15" aluminum rims with 195/50 (brand new), Mangnaflow exhaust complete with a humble muffler and headers, and of course springs cut to lower it 1.5" The the width of of the tires combined with the lower center of gravity make cornering comparable to driving my uncles BMW Z3, and turning heads with a resonant exhaust is a bonus! post some pictures of your progress when you can, can't wait to see her with some nice rims
  10. Ya, stock 3T-C and like 7shades said, the quad set up was replaced with the rectangular setup in 81 I love the classic bumpers! I like to think i could do some damage to any honda that cuts me off The old corollas definitely aren't that common here in BC, I had to search awhile to find this one The tercel has the 5E-FE engine, but i don't see much potential for that car... even though "turbocel" has a nice ring to it :rocknroll: I've already decided to dedicate my summer to the rolla... It'd be hard to go back to FWD now anyways I'm considering getting new suspension cause i'm pretty sure it's whats affecting my steering, have to do some research and make Some money first though Which chrome bars are you referring to JiP_01?
  11. Love the idea Charl, it'll definitely turn some heads!!! Even though the paint jobs still in the process it's come aways. keep it up and keep us posted :lolcry:
  12. Thanks guys, Bought it for 1400 two weeks ago and at the time I had 1500 to my name, so while I'm saving up I plan to figure out my priorities for her (with a little inspiration from this wonderful forum!) The previous owner was planning on doing a full drift conversion before he got married, but left it sitting in his garage as his priorities were likely elsewhere. He lowered it a couple inches, picked up decent wheels and redid the entire exhaust system himself with magnaflow components. The steerings a little tricky, rear bumpers fudged and the engine ticks but i couldn't be happier with it!
  13. Hey guys, just registered and thought I'd share some photos of my new '80 TE72 let me know what you think my old '95 Tercel and my new '80 Rolla side by side I'm planning on painting a couple things until I can afford anything else (engine, exhaust headers, carburetor, calipers/drums and all the black trim to start) comments/suggestions appreciated
