  1. Helo, from my experience the tacho dashes only work when it is fuel injected, not carby....it might have something to do with the computer set up.

The sx dashes also have an extra wire plug - 7in,I believe.Bascally, nothing should work.

I thnk club member "Trev" might know a bit more about it.

  3. Hello, it sounds like either your very unlucky with seatbelts or they are fitted incorrectly(which is impossible to do in a seca). If the retracting mechanism is not at the correct angle/position,it will keep locking up(try unrolling a seatbelt when it's not fitted to a car, bloody hard to do,unless held in the right position).

Having said that,I can't see how it could be incorrectly fitted to a seca...they only bolt in one way.

I believe the seatbelts are strictly left and right but I haven't tested the theory.

If you want to try your luck on another second hand set,I have a set of front and rear seatbelts with bolts from a seca for $20 set.

    Located at Dinmore,near brisbane qld.

    Other seca bits available....rear louvre...door windvisors/weathershields...rear bumper...tail lights etc.

    PM me if your interested.

    Thank you...skip.

  5. I am not sure if the wiper motors are the same between hatchback and seca..but...I have a working(tested before removal last week)rear wiper motor at Dinmore.Make an offer.

I have a rear spoiler on my hatchback.....it does nothing except look good.

It does improve the look a lot.

    $90 bucks is a bargain.

Is that from boundary road wreckers...the red hatch with the silvertop motor.Looks like it's been underwater??? I brought the whiteline rear swaybar from that car a couple weeks ago.

  7. Quick update; I still have not started the conversion yet.

I will let you's know the difference when they are fitted, and there will be a difference....I have had no handbrake(or rear brakes)for about 2 years now....so I will notice some difference.

After 25 years of doing cars,I have found there are no easy/simple rear brake set up.They all have some sort of stupid factory f##kup built into them but corolla's(ae models, that is) seem the easiest to do that I've come across.

    Thank you...skip.

  8. Hello,

If you are doing an EFI conversion, you will need the fuel tank with fuel pump and also the fuel lines. As well as the wiring harness and (of course)an injected motor/box.

I have just wrecked a twin cam seca and have the fuel tank/pump and lines for sale.I will eventually have a harness as well, when I start work on my car.

I have previously converted my hatch from carby to injected 4afe and will soon be converting to twin cam 4age and 6 speed.I will be adding the turbo and s/c later when car is running right.

I also have a question....is the engine bay wiring harness in my 4afe the same as one with a 4age??? I will be changing the complete harness over anyway, due to installing the long dash cluster but I am curious to know if they are the same.IMHO I believe they would be.

Seca ae92 SX parts are available at Goodna 4300 Brisbane QLD....PM me with any requests for parts.

I will try to list some pics in the 'for sale' forum.

    Thank you.

  9. Hello, I am about to do that myself in the next week or so.I will try to take some pics along the way. However,it is a pretty simple thing to do.Everything just unbolts and really only goes back together one way,so less stuff ups.

I have been asking people the same questions about 4wdisc conversions and most seem to have varying ideas about it.

I have cheated and brought a complete running car and swapping everything over.Including the 6 speed box.

    Here is everything I have been told and which has been proven right by other people;

you will need rear hubs/trailer arms and handbrake cables.

    you can use 4wdisc from ae90 ae92 ae94 and ae101 models.

been told numerous times that the booster and master cylinder are exactly the same between drum and disc rear.

metal brake lines are the same.No bias valves etc in the line.

front hubs/rotors/calipers are different than the drum brake ones.

There are different sizes/types of 4wdisc set ups. Some rotors are slightly bigger in diameter.

    Things I been told and un-verifyed are;

rear strut/shocky towers are different...I will compare mine and check soon.

booster the same but master cylinder different.Housing/reservoir is the same but supposed to have a different spring pressure inside of it somewhere.

most people keep away from the factory 4wdisc and use an upgraded/modified versions(4pot calipers etc).

    Hope that helps....Thank you.

PS; I have some g.c ae92 seca parts for sale.I am wrecking it into my hatchback. So all the seca bits are not needed.

    EG; tailgate/hatch

    4 doors

some rear interior plastics and dash plastics.Dark grey type colour

    rear bumper bar

front strut bar and a front swaybar

    long dash cluster

    hi-rise centre console(twin cam style)

    tail lights

    rear wing/bobtail

EFI conversion bits (tank/pump/lines and a wiring harness when I change mine over)

power steering set up (rack/lines and pump to suit twin cam)

etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc ......................Thank you...skip.

  10. If your close to ipswich/brisbane I can help/advise the fitment of loom and fuel tank+lines. Can probably help you source them from local wreckers.Fitting them is probably the easiest part.

Also, while we are on the subject of fitting motors to ae92's...I have to ask every ones opinion-- how much extra work is there for me to fit a 4agze into ae92 hatch? I already have efi/ecu working and fitted.I have a spare 4agze+box from an aw11 sitting around and was wondering if it is worth the effort to put it in my ae92 or my other aw11.

  11. I must agree...your mechanic is an idiot.

You will need to change your fuel tank and the fuel line(a lot easier than it sounds)and a lot easier when empty.Any ae90-92-93 corolla that is EFI will have the tank and lines you need.

You will also need to change wiring harness. As now you need a computer/ecu to run the engine.Again, easy as piss.Needs to be a 4age harness from engine bay area. Not too hard to find on ebay.

I am not too sure on the radiator. No one else has mentioned it yet.I believe it to be different.

Another thing not mentioned yet...do you have power steer? not all 4age's came with a p/steer pump attached.

The exhuast may not bolt together but it can be cut and shut easy enough.

Hope that helps.Just ask for more info.

  12. Hello, if your local to brisbane I can show you the inside of my doors to give you some idea of where things go.Otherwise I will try to explain through messages. There is a metal bracket that attaches the locking mech with the central locking gadget and only one hole should need to be drilled to fit them.If it's factory central locking, the holes should already be in the door. You will need to drill a hole for the wiring to go inside the car, preferably using a rubber boot as well. Will explain further if need be,just pm me.

    Thank you.

  13. Your post does not say where you are but if your near wacol, brisbane try picknsave wreckers on boundary road.

I was there yesterday and they had two almost complete tercel wagons. One wagon has an electric sunroof.

Both wagons had something I have never seen before; an internal roof mounted cargo carrier with speakers on the side.Looks awesome.

Also I have a radiator out of an AE90/92 hatchback,if you find out that they fit your car(I don't think it does but thought I would offer anyway)....Thanks.

  14. Hello Benno, I can't help you with wiring diagram but I can help you with another alternator from a 4afe.If you need it.Located at Goodna, brissie southside...0413 960 696...Joe.

Also, on another subject. You were looking for 4age sx corolla complete car.If you check out rob77 on boostcruising,he apparently has one for sale.It has a bottom end knock.I don't know him but seen his reply to some one else's questions...Hope that helps you...Thank you.

  15. Hello, if you are any where near pick'n'save wreckers at boundary rd carole park/wacol area, drop in and have a look. They have an ae92 and an ae95 up on stands side by side.Makes it easy to compare them.I had a bit of a look(the same awd conv crossed my mind too)and the only probs that I can see,is where the shocks and springs attach to undercarriage of car.The rest is pretty much a bolt fit.You may need to take a bit off the side of the petrol tank,as it will come very close to tail shaft. The ae92 looks to have enough of a tunnel to allow shaft. You will obviously need the gearbox and diff from ae95 and I was told you will need the motor(or at least block)as it is supposed to be the only one that will bolt to gearbox(not confirmed, only hearsay).

Also, I have seen one(and only one)bolt on attachment for ae92 to convert to awd and it was listed on ebay a year ago(I was outbid). Not too sure how it was done, that's why I wanted to buy it,but apparently there is at least one conversion out there.

Anyway, if you happen to find anything, let me know.I am willing to convert mine as well.

    THANK YOU.

  16. Hello, I have a set of extractors that I took off a seca ae92 with a carby motor.I want to fit them to a EFI motor. Are they the same, will they fit? I have been told that the heads are different between the carby and efi motors. Is that only the case with the inlet side, not the outlet side.As far as I know,it is a 1.6 dohc 4afe.

Can supply pics but I figured they are not needed.

    Any help is appreciated.

It would solve my problem if someone out there swapped me a set that would fit(just a hint LOL).

PS; I know the bit that bolts together on exhaust system is different. That can be welded together, does not worry me atm.I need to know if the extractors will bolt up to the head before I start destroying my exhuast system.

    Thanking you in advance.
