  1. Every time you attempt to start it, the cold start injector squirts fuel into the plenum.

     

    There's going to be a lot of fuel in there.

     

    I still reckon you need to swap the dizzy. Can you get any codes with your setup or not?

     

    yeh there was more fuel in one cylinder than the rest, its was shooting out the top of number 3.. I'm not to sure!

  2. Classic head gasket weeping water into a cylinder. The water condenses on the plug and it won't fire. When it finally fires up it burns the water out and then its fine until the next night when temperatures drop.

     

    Get a leak-down test and see.

     

    its had the same coolant for like 3 months, i havnt even had to top it up? the plugs are wet with petrol.. this is the worst its been it actually wont even try to fire, I'm gonna throw it off a bridge soon.......... my 7m is more reliable :D?

  3. once its been started and is hot there is no issue, but its when its cold? we checked the dizzy and timing a few weeks ago when it first started happening and all was fine.. we also checked the timing :)

    mmm not even chocolate will get this female working..... stubborn, ill just hope for the good mood haha. I'm pushing it around at the moment, keep getting stuck in mud. shit is hard by your self..

    and no it doesnt start by its self haha, sometimes i turn the key and she starts first shot, other times it wont try to fire. usually if i start it every day its fine, but if i miss a day it wont start..

     

    its a great motor, so fun at mallala but this is starting to piss me off and i don't know much about cars so when my dad is away for work i got to push it :\

    yeh it kicks over but doesnt even try to fire. yes i have spark. fuel pump is definitely pumping. I'm not sure about the injector pulse, ill check tomorrow!

    i personally think its spark, because the engine smell so strong of petrol, also the sparks plugs were soaking, but i think thats cause i been sitting there pumping it..?

    and yeh the wiring is really dodgy, who ever did it wasnt very interested in doing it properly.

    Bit more info might help.

    1. does it wind over but not start?

    2. have you got spark when it won't start?

    3. can you hear fuel pump working when it won't start?

    4. do you have injector pulse when it's not starting?

    Basically speaking you need to see if it's a spark issue or fuel issue causing you the headaches.

    Sounds like it'll be a bad wiring connection causing intermittant problems. Double check powers and earths for computer and fuel pump.

  5. Hey guys i had a quick look through the older posts couldnt find what i needed.

     

    i have a 16v bigport 4age, pretty much stock. the other day it started, then the next day it wouldnt for a few days, it started yesterday but today i can't start it again. it didnt do it when i first got it, but now it literally picks random days to start.. i don't know all that much about cars but me and dad went over everything a few weeks back and dizzy, plugs, leads, wiring, injectors everything was fine... i cleaned the plugs today tried jump starting it, it tried to fire a few times but now wont fire at all.

     

    any help would be appreciated, f@$kin me off.

  6. Hey guys

     

    i am trying to hook up a SAAS aftermarket tacho to my 4age. we hooked it up but it didnt work, so i tried my dads tacho and it works on the positive side, but on the negative it jumped around. mine jumped when it was on the negative side but now doesnt do anything at all?

     

    any ideas?

    MA61 story: It got thraashed, defected, then thrashed more i guess, sold, the guy before me started pulling it apart and trying to get it running, got sick of it and sold it to me. We've pulled it apart more, it now run like a baby but we need to get all the emission control hoses and shit back on and unblocked for regency. We got a new windowscreen, cut that gay 99" canon off and now we are trying to find another one. Some one put one on the internet the other night so i rang the guy like 5 times, left him a message, dad rang him in the morning and he finally answered so dad went down to buy it but the guy sold it 5 minutes before he got there :blush: We are pretty devo. So yeh, it's been sitting there for a year the way it is :(

     

    Plans for the Celica: If i can sort an 18R-G out, i may keep it. If not i'll sell it cause i want a supra and the celica was just to get me around while i saved up, but all my money went into it anyway and i'm kinda attached now :| When i bought it, it had 56,000 and the guy insisted they were legit. Idk if i believe him but it's goes pretty decent and i've had no problems so far. Apparently the thruster bearing? is on it way out and that about all. No, the 5M-E will stay in the supra for now.

  9. hey guys, my names michael and i'm 17.

     

    my daily is a RA40 liftback. at first when i bought this car i was really dissapointed :jamie: it conked out every time i stopped, it was gutless, uncomfortable, no power steering and just crap.. i havn't really done much, but so far i put a cortina webber on it, extractors with a 2inch pipe and a high flow muffler (sounds so old school), i got MA61 rims all round with 235s on the back and 215s on the front and took the mud flaps off, MA61 seats and a phat dildo shifter :blinks: dad and i also took all the emission control shit off and the air con came out. now it's comfortable, doesn't conk out, sounds SO good and goes a little bit better.

  10. Turns out, my dream car popped up cheap =D Long story short. Finished work, MkII Supra in car park, went and said "Hi", got into a convo, he recommended me to SaSupra.com, told me about a guy selling a MkII, PMed him, bought it for $800, fixing it up atm.

     

    But i still want a KE70, so I'm going to look at one soon =] She will be stock though.

  11. Thanks for that mitch4397 lol, but i think i will stick my Astra ay. I just need to get my P's so i can get a bit of experience, at the moment Mum and Dad whine like caterpillars when i turn a corner to fast etc... I just need to get some new tires and a new windscreen. I just wish it didn't have so much rust, otherwise i would respray it, chuck some better suspension on it and get an exhaust system on it, but ohh well.

     

    I also have a new question. So far, i've seen 2 different model KE70's. One with simple square lights and another with VK sorta lights. What year are the 2 different models? And what are some of the differences?

     

    By the way, i appreciate you all looking out for me =] And i guess i should just stick with a 4 for a little while.

  12. Gahh, i didn't expect all these comments lol... The car i'm talking about will be in the future. I'm simply getting ideas and suggestions and reading other peoples builds etc... Don't think i'm some little rev head teen soon to be on the news .____. I just want some power, a nice sound and a head turner... I'm not like "Hey, let's go buy a KE70, stick a 6 in it, put massive chromies on it, paint is fluorescent pink, put a gay picture on it and go drag commodores and die"

     

    I'm like "I want a car that doesn't almost conk out when you take off, or completely die and over rev like crazy in every gear..."

     

    In actual fact, i'm a very sketchy driver. But yeh, going to back to what i said when i first started the topic, i have no clue about cars... Some one says 4A-GE 1.6L. I instantly think small and weak...

  13. LOL Dad bought it for me... Just to learn to drive in. I made a little list of things i want to do and the prices, it shouldn't be to much money... Hoping around 5-6 grand. But that's just the basic stuff, idk half the stuff. Like i saw some guy getting Falcon suspension and fitting it to a Corolla or something along those lines. That's why i joined this forum, for help =D

     

    Does a KE70 handle well and is it underpowered?

  14. I have as much money as i need. I hope to join the Navy and they pay quite well, so all my money will go into my car. Lolol and i have a car already........ 1987 Holden Astra 1.6 litre... It's slow as a wet wig. And i'm pretty sure a 4K will be slower?

     

    And i'm not going to be a idiot in my first year of driving... I was hoping to go to Mallala and get some experiene when i was on my P's...

     

    But yeh, i didn't plan on doing the conversion until late next year maybe... Now i'm thinking of buying a KE10 and drpping a 4A-GE into that and then getting a KE70 and putting a 1GGTE is it?

    I'm new to RollaClub. My name is Michael, I'm 16 and i love Corollas lol. I have a lot of questions. Some of them are slowly getting eliminated as i search through older topics... But there are a few questions i have, because I'm no mechanic and pretty much have no idea about half the stuff i read on these forums...

     

    First of all, is there any possible way to fit a 2JZ-GE/GTE in a KE70? If not, i don't really want a 4A-GE/GZE... So is there any other 6 cylinders anyone can recommend? Maybe a 7M-GE/GTE? 5M-GE...? Maybe another manufacturer... Or is it actually better to just go 4A-GE...?

     

    Also, how much money are we talking for a 4A-GE conversion...? I read it will cost a bit, but it never mentioned how much...

     

    I look forward to cruising with the SA boys in a few months =D Need P's...

     

    Ohhh and is anyone in SA selling a KE70 by any chance?
