flamingheads Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 (edited) I'm a new member here. Just thought I'd stick my new beast up. It's my brand new 1988 TOYOTA COROLLA AE95R SR5. I'm the third owner and the first 2 owners were very caring. The interior is pretty much perfect and apart from the bonnet and a spot on the roof the paint is perfect and it goes good and all that. The 4AFE is nothing special in performance but it's a lot nicer than the 4AC in my last car. These are the only pics I've got at the moment. It's got air Con, Cd Player, Central Locking, Electric Mirrors, Power Steering and Tinted Windows. I've got a set of 15" wheels I'm hoping will fit on. I've heard power is hard to come by in the F department so I'll probably just get an air filter and muffler for it for now and see what happens in the future. Rolla__Boy Posted December 8, 2006 Report Posted December 8, 2006 Nice car mate. I like all the luxury features :P Alot of potential, and welcome to rollaclub...enjoy your stay :( Quote
Kebin[RL] Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 hooray for you i say.... "mod it" :P Quote
flamingheads Posted December 9, 2006 Author Report Posted December 9, 2006 Your avatar looks strangely familiar... I guess I'll get it then see if I want to keep it an mod it or drive it and upgrade or whatever. But right now I'm thinking of wheels, air filter and gloss black bonnet, cause the paint there needs to be done anyway. Quote
7shades Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 Go the turtle! I own an AL25 (84 model) tercel and its a fantastic little car... His name is Little Winston. I had an AE95 4wd a few years ago as my daily driver. They really are incredibly versatile and useful. Heaps of room, comfortable to drive long distances and the 4wd gets you to all the good fising spots and secluded beaches, camping spots etc... awesome car. I was soooo pissed off when it got rear ended and written off.... word of warning though.... the driveline can be broken easily if you try to drive it like a racecar/landcruiser and the gearshift linkages can get sloppy and often need replacing. Quote
Kebin[RL] Posted December 9, 2006 Report Posted December 9, 2006 also 1st gear ratio is ghey! don't contemplate on thinking you can make it race spec :P Quote
7shades Posted December 10, 2006 Report Posted December 10, 2006 also 1st gear ratio is ghey! don't contemplate on thinking you can make it race spec :P hehehe yeah good for crawling up hills and pulling out tree stumps though :( AL25 has a 6 speed with an EXTRA low 1st gear... completely useless but an interesting novelty none the less Quote
flamingheads Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Posted December 10, 2006 Well it sounds like wheels and maybe an air filter will be the extent of the mods and I'm going to have to learn to shift better. The problem is I want to paint the bonnet gloss black (cause the gloss has come off and it needs a repaint) but I can imagine that making it harder to sell in the future. Anyway I shall ponder these questions as I save my pennies for the paint. I'm so broke... Quote

flamingheads Posted December 11, 2006 Author Report Posted December 11, 2006 Awesome. Picking it up tomorrow and I'll probably try it out on the way home ie. take it on some interesting roads. I'm excited. That short shifter sounds like a pretty good idea... if by short shifter you mean cutting the shifter shorter because I'm not buying a quick shifter kit. ANyway I'm excited. Kebin, chuck me a link to your car so I can have a look. I had a quick looks and couldn't see one. And now I'm off to bed. Quote
