well basically, i cut my ke55 air intake pipe down to a shorter length cos it gets real narrow so i cut it where it was wider, turned it around to face a hole coming thru the grill to get more and colder air..the bad thing is, i will probly have to get the police to id my vehicle so i can register it (long story/problem) will they pull me up on this? or my power cables from the batter for my strereo that arent screwed in? or cos my mate took off sum of the pollution control measures..he didnt pull em out, just disconected them.

Put it back they way it was, Changing the pollution and cutting the air intake after rego would have been the smart thing to do ?

If you have a hose running to the front of the car acting as a cold air intake, get rid of it. Its just one less thing they can pick on. If your car looks stock, they will be less inclined to start looking over it more thoroughly.

You would probably get away with the air filter pipe being chopped down, as long as its not sharp and doesnt look out of place.

Definately hook the pollution gear back up.

Its also very illegal to modify your car (to the point where it is unroadworthy) within a certain time period after getting your car roadworthied. I think its about 30 days here in VIC. Its still very much illegal to have an unroadworthy car, but outside of the time period you are less likely to be fined.

For Example: I get my car roadworthied and registered. Then i head home and put in some chopped springs, and rip the pollution gear off. If I were to get pulled over within (30 days?) and the police were switched on, not only could they defect the car, but they could fine me for obvious reasons.

I guess its there to stop hoons getting defected at the street drags etc and then making their car roadworthy for an inspection. Only to drive away after the inspection, and return their car to the previous spec.

It would give Roadworthy Testers a bad name to see a roadworthy car drive out of the workshop only to see it cruise past the next day with a loud exhaust and sitting on its belly with the roadworthy papers in the glovebox.

I went a little off topic, but its just something to have a think about before you start modifying your car with unapproved mods.

Same goes for epa, big fine if you get caught with your exhaust illagal within a certin time of getting a noise test off your car.
