Ae80 And Ae82 Differences...

Hey guys n gals. Just something that has sparked my interest. Other than the engine being a 2ac 1.3l in the AE80 and a 4ac or g 1.6l in the AE82 is there any other differences between the two models. From what I can tell they are exactly the same car. Also were the AE80's produced in smaller numbers also as I don't remember seeing much in the way of AE80's around for sale in the trading post, car sales ect. Thanks....

My AE80 only has the 4 speed box - think its the standard for the 1.3. Now that I have the 1.6 in there it screams its arse off. I really should drop my 5 speed box under it soon.

Hey, I'm new to this website and as a 16yr old don't really know too much about cars. I recently bought my 1st car a 1986 corolla 5door hatch 5 speed manual. just wondering if its and ae80 or an ae82?

Look at the VIN. The first letters/numbers will be the model number

Hey guys i own an ae80 1.5l 3A with 5 speed Goes really hard th motor is out of an tercel i don't think that the ae80 and ae82 are same out side the engine bay the ae80 has a few diff things that ae80 eg aircon dash trim ect

My AE80 has 'factory' aircon. But apparently it was an after market thing that the dealers had to install - so it may well have been a standard AE82 factory fit.

 

There is no 'wing' on the back of the AE80 either - I am fairly sure its a twin cam 82 option.

yeah I'm pretty sure the wing is a twin cam option cas i was looking at buying one and it had the wing.
