TRD ke70 Posted August 18, 2007 Report Posted August 18, 2007 (edited) timing is 5 plus or minus 2 5k's don't have points there electronic, I'd try using 4k settings for that one. Toyota don't have a hot and cold clearance check for there lifters because there machining is so good, and if you have clearance you have a problem, there shouldn't be any. kickn5k Posted August 19, 2007 Report Posted August 19, 2007 Toyota don't have a hot and cold clearance check for there lifters because there machining is so good, and if you have clearance you have a problem, there shouldn't be any. This is correct information, as hydro lifters well sort of don't run clearance you only need to set the lifter preload when building engine and thats it. liffter preload is usually 1/4 turn to lock into the liffter. If you need a full description there is a heap of tech stories in the likes of the V8 magazines as alot of them run hydro set ups and its the same proceedure for the 5K to the small block Ford or Holden/Chev V8. hope that helps stu. TRD ke70 Posted August 20, 2007 Report Posted August 20, 2007 most 5k's don't have adjustment for lifters, you have to grind down the pedestal or space it. the only 5k's with adjustment are the ones with solid lifers. Quote
