how can i get the gear lever off of my old gearbox. just the piece on the top?

There should be just a big circlip or wire ring holding it in.

Hi,

Early KE1X and I think KE2X had a bayonet fitting like a light bulb. Push down and turn. I made a piece of wood with a slit that I slid onto the shifter shaft pushed down and turned. Later ones have a cir clip.
