86rolla Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 I have an ae82 with the 4a-c engin is it at all posiable to put a 4a-gze into my car :D and if so would it need mush mods??? thanks :) Quote
Medicine_Man Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 4AGZE into AE82 has been done before, Requires the same modifications as dropping any 4AG(Z)E into any car that came with a 4A based motor. Can use the original mounts, Need fuel pump, need to sort all the wiring etc. If you can't figure this out for yourself you probably shouldn't be attempting the conversion yourself. Quote
86rolla Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 (edited) Well i was going to.. i have successfully transplanted a 265hemi into a 66 vc valiant with no problems i just wanted to no if it was possible so i didn't wast my time trying Edited January 20, 2008 by 86rolla Quote
Medicine_Man Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Yes it is indeed very possible, As long as you have the mechanical ability and enough money for the bits it shouldn't be any great drama to do it.. Quote
86rolla Posted January 20, 2008 Author Report Posted January 20, 2008 Are these engins hard to come by??? Quote
Des Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 Are these engins hard to come by??? Not really, Importers stock them mostly or buy privately. Quote
xdave Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 if money is no limits by all means this might be a great idea the thing is with these conversions they can start to get very expensive. think around $5-8k+ for frontcut and all necessary parts + work. $5k area would be if you're doing alot of DIY work. and this is all before engineering, rego and insurance etc. i guess unless you have a sentimental attachment to your current rolla or it is particularly clean and rust-free etc. what you may be better off doing if you want an AE82 with GZE is to buy one that has already been converted. these go for less than $5-8k for sure. you could probably find a decent one for $2-3k or thereabouts i once had a CS seca. bought a twinky hatch, got rid of the 4AC CS seca and i havent looked back since :hmm: Quote
