ke20rolla Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Hi, can anyone tell me if there is a difference between a 4k and 5k crankshaft pulley, size or weight :y: Quote
Xany Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Yup....5K has a harmonic balancer, whereas a 4K is just a normal pulley. Quote
trd Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 5k has timing marks in a different place to 4k - 3k 5k crank pully + 4k timing cover = f@$ked up timing :y: Quote
Xany Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Hahahahahaha, lucky i've never timed my motor using the timing cover then....i think its off a 4k. Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Also heavier. Also careful. My 5K harmonic balencer slightly sits out further than astock 4K one so now my KE15 original alternator wont line up and the water pump is just off AHAHA This causes belt wear fast so umm yeah they can be a pain. I'm looking into this still but so don't have any firm answers. Cameron Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 HAHA forgot that to Mr TRD.. I noticed this when I was using one on my 3K once..LOL as the Kf series van with 4K runs 12 degrees BTDC while the 5K version runs 5 degrees BTDC..lol Now thats in Europe. other countries it is 8 degrees..LOL just to make it harder Cameron Quote
ke20rolla Posted February 16, 2008 Author Report Posted February 16, 2008 got the harmonic balancer and water pump pulley for my 5k motor. It's 30mm bigger than the 3k one that I have on there now. Just getting myself a 5k water pump because I currently have a 3k one at the moment and the pulley offset and shaft sizes are different, going to cost $55 from burson autoparts trade price. :'( Quote
