DearmanKE Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 hey guys, got my box out, clutch is f@$ked, got a new clutch, it came with a new release bearing so i figure ill replace it while the box is out but i have no idea where to start on removeing the old one from the input shaft of the gearbox? how is this done? and also how is the new one put on? thanks ps, its a ke70, 4sp, 4k Quote
philbey Posted March 8, 2008 Report Posted March 8, 2008 Should just have some kind of wire spring clip that holds it onto the clutch fork, Just unclip it and slide it off the input shaft, then drop the new one into place and put the clip back on. Quote
7shades Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Yeah there's two little wire springs on the bearing holder thingy. Pop them off and it'll slide off the input shaft.... then you gotta smash the old bearing out and tap the new one in. I think thats the go anyway... I'm old and my memory is fuzzy. Quote
towe001 Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 I'm old and fuzzy. The last one i did the bearing just slid off after i removed the clips Quote
7shades Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Ah yeah depends if the kit came with the whole thrust assembly or just the bearing itself I think, mine didn't. Had to knock it out and then smack the new one in with a big socket Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted March 9, 2008 Report Posted March 9, 2008 Or if you want to do it the nerdy way put the holder in the freezer the new thrust in the oven on about 120 for 15min until golden brown and it will drop straight on no effort. Quote
