My 4k blew the head gasket so Its a good time to get the head shaved to give it a bit more power how much would you recommend taking off I'm thinking around 20 thou but tell me what you think. :dance:

Ten to twenty is what they'd take off in a normal sort of skim. I once had a head that was shaved .125". The screwdriver holes for lifting the head off weren't there anymore.

 

Twenty would be fine. As would probably anything up to .060"

40thou sounds sweet.

Snap bang in the centre of 20 and 60 thou.

Make sure to clean the deck of the block aswell, so that your new gasket can sit in flush.

what comp were you gunning for with that Dwarf?

Well, it was back in the days of AvGas, thus we were looking for 11:1 plus. Can't remember what we ended up with, but it went well for a while.

Meh, it really just wore out. Nothing went bang as such, it just got tired after about two seasons.
