Jarsky Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 (edited) OK so I just got some headlights from the US - some H4 7" units to replace my old sealed beem lights which have blown! just looking at them I don't know how I'm going to fit them? they don't have a hook for the spring nor do they have an outer rim to screw in the adjustable screws that hold them in place? Do I just use the chrome rings off the old lights to do this or how do I fit these? (car is in storage right now so don't have old light infront of me) any help from someone who has done this would be appreciated! I reaaaally don't wanna have to take it to a mechanic/sparky :hmm: these are the lights here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...cTODAY.m238.lVI Edited April 23, 2008 by Jarsky Quote
Jarsky Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 so i stopped to detach the lights from my KE25 on the way home and figured out how they mount in, but my brackets are a bit stuffed (being 37 years old and not had the best care), does anyone know a place where i can get new headlight brackets & adjusting screws from? :hmm: Quote
sammo[RL] Posted April 23, 2008 Report Posted April 23, 2008 Any wrecker should have them, if they're the proper item, they should go straight into the old housing. I bought some Narva H4 conversion lights a few years ago, and it was the best 100 bucks i ever spent! Quote
Jarsky Posted April 23, 2008 Author Report Posted April 23, 2008 oldschool corollas are few and far between with wreckers here in Auckland! I'm really after new replacement brackets than old stuff as I'm trying to tidy it up to 'new' condition as its my oldschool rota project :hmm: so if anyone knows where I can get some new brackets (the back bracket, front bracket with chrome ring, adjust screws, springs) then id be reaaaally appreciative :y: they're fitted well enough in the corolla at the moment and yeah the H4's make a hugeeee difference over the standard sealed beam bulbs, i love it!! (p.s In NZ Narva lights sell for $300!!!! hence why I got mine from the US) Quote
JiP Posted April 27, 2008 Report Posted April 27, 2008 I don't see why you took the whole headlight off. It would have been easier just to remove the trim ring and the sealed beam would have popped out. Quote
Jarsky Posted April 28, 2008 Author Report Posted April 28, 2008 Didn't know that when I did it, plus I wasn't about to stuff around where the car was and figure it out on the spot, took it home to do. They're in now, took about 20 mins to get them into the trim ring & brackets (which arent in great condition) and about another 25 mins to fit them back in and readjust them - still need a bit of tweaking to do to focus them right for my cert. But i'm still after new brackets & trims for the rebuild if anyone can help! :lolcry: Quote
